Why do scientist assume the Wow signal should repeat if it was sent by ETs? When humans sent out the Arecibo message, we sent it once. It didn't repeat.
Why should we assume ETs will do it differently?

Ah the Big Ear - I went by there when I was going to Cleveland a couple of years ago. The site is now a giant pond on a golf course driving range. Nice to know that something that once caught wayward data from space now catches wayward drives on the 10th hole....

Thank you, Mr. Petrov. Always fun to hear about SETI and the WOW. Take care.

Don't forget to mention the inverse square law: radio signals from intelligent life on a distant planet would quickly dissipate into the background noise of empty space. It is impossible for us to detect such a signal.

They've decoded the signal and it's as follows, "The warranty on your Moon is about to expire. Please contact our service department to extend services"...

You remain the best out there Anton, even after all those years I keep on learning and learning. Thank you very much for all the knowledge you share with us. When I started to watch your videos I didn't know anything about astro physics, quantum mechanica and space in general. Because of you I did start to watch more videos about these topics and to read papers and studies about it, now a few year laters I can share my knowledge (Although still little compared with yours) with others.

You're the best ❣

I remember an analogy from Carl Sagan. Maybe the civs are like the lights on a Christmas tree, it could very well be the case that we are the only one lit right now... Merry Christmas everybody!

Your comment that sending a signal to the stars cited here and getting a response would take 3, 000 to 4, 000 years seems to be the main reason for not finding other intelligent life. Consider what our technology on earth was like 3, 000 years ago. That would be about 1, 000 years BCE. Radio communication became possible here about 120 years ago. Life may be out there, and probably is. But the expanse of the universe makes even communication almost impossible. Consider how long it takes for JPL to communicate with the Voyager space craft. They are just to the edge of the Solar System. Even communicating with the nearest star system would take a signal more than 8 years to be sent and answered.
