They ate fruit and fish. As they sailed toward a ship they say, they found it was too far away. Rex took Pablo's diary with him when he ran toward noises he heard. The tourists read the diary and followed Rex to Pablo.

I guess in the first part Rex has not yet gotten Pablo for the people on the ship to see him. Gosh I was thinking that the people on the ship took Pablo and left Rex behind. THAT would be horrible and make me cry. Whew...they both got saved.
