The key is to be patient because once they find it they will make a trail and/or swarm it but as tempting as it may be do not disturb them because they are actually doing the work and taking it deep into the colony where they spread the love amongst each other because it is slow acting and designed to work that way so everyone gets their fair share lol.

This stuff works, eradicating the colony you can't see. I have used it for a couple of years now. When I see an ant in the house, it's not long before I see a few more. I watch, see where they are traveling from, set the bait and, in a few days, not an ant to be seen. Love this stuff.

Regarding the older Terro liquid ant baits...
I thank you for leaving this 2017 review online even after Terro changed the trap design (new ones have twist-off plug on the end). I found I had some older traps but couldn't remember how to open the trap (you show where to make the cut! Thanks).

One hint...do this BEFORE you cut open the trap...if there is liquid in the lobby end of the trap, set the trap upright resting on the other end for a while--the liquid will migrate back to home. Then you can make a cut and turn the trap back to being on its back and the trap might not drool. .

Also, for what it's worth, I also have a bottle of the older older version of Terro ant bait that is still partly unused. You are supposed to cut some _thin_ cardboard or cardstock rectangles and put a dot of the bait on each of them, then put the cardboards in the usual paths of the ants.

I recently found the bottle and as I do each year, I set out some of these rectangles in my lake cabin. I still have a few ants, but a lot fewer and I continue to replenish the dot of bait every so often and ants continue to haul it away. I bet that bottle is at least 15 yrs old, but it has some potency yet, even if it has been frozen each winter at the lake cabin!

We tried the Ortho Ant Bgon Max Bait, after a week the ants were still around. We went out and bought the Terro brand, and the ants disappeared 2 weeks later. Finally!

Is it safe to just leave the trap down without monitiring the ant activity not knowing whether or not you're going to have an explosion of ants all over the place . My ant problem seems to be in my kitchen on my kitchen counter

$5 at walmart! I kept thinking the ants were going to go inside and die. But the traps were ant free and there were hundreds of dead ones in my floor. So i looked into it a little better to find out it works REALLY good!

Do you rinse the sponge out or throw it out? Will they be attracted to it after cleaning up the spill? I have had these traps down for 4 days now... still have more ants coming. 😞

I used the Terro liguid in the bottle. 1st attempt of using it i saw no ants going to it. 2nd attempt i mixed it with some sugar and ants swarmed it. They fed off it heavy for 2 days and then watched them slowly reduce in number untill there was none.
