I love the sound of nylon. Seems you hear the music more, . The strings are less intrusive and mellow, whereas with the steel string you get a metallic ping sound.

I think the nylon string sound better when they're being picked, but steel strings sound better when they're strummed. Edit: the guitars sound good both ways depending on what type of music you play with them

I got both nylon and steel string guitars. Both have their merits. As he said the steel string is more versatile, but when it comes to finger picking I vastly prefer my nylon string guitar as it gives a more mellow sound which is better fit for that type of playing

nylon string sounds warmer then steel ones, i prefer steel ones. Yes it hurts, so what. It will go away.

Somehow for the first time, hearing steel and nylon side by side like this, I realize that I simply love the sound of nylon strings. Nylon just sounds like ... aching for the truth, knowing you can never really grasp it, but you still want it so badly. Steel sounds like you already know... but you really only think you do.

For me personally I prefer Classical Guitars. I just love the sweet and mellow tone of Nylon strings, chords sound really beautiful on Nylon. At the end of the day it all comes down to preference, no Guitar is better then the other. You play any genre on both Guitars, I recommend people should play both Classical and Acoustic Guitars. You don't want to limit yourself to one type of Guitar.

I’d go with steel string when its strumming.Fingerstyling is more of a nylon string because of how peaceful the tune is.

I personally prefer the sound of the classical/nylon string guitar. That sound just has a lot more soul than the steel string guitar, in my opinion.
