Oh yeah, by the way. The new Steam Family Share is region-locked. Just thought I'd let you guys know, for, you know, the cases in which it's like for example, someone lives in Brazil and they wanted to share their games with someone who lives in the USA.

Good video. Thanks for making it. My son has been bugging me for about a week to look into this

This is so awesome. I have a son who is getting into gaming and this will be a great for us. As he gets older I can share more of my games.

horrible idea, fixing something don't need to. "Failed to accept the family invite. You are ineligible to join this Steam Family at this time, as your Steam activity doesn't indicate that you are in the same household as other members of this family."

3:05 This is almost exactly the same thing as library sharing, I guess it's just more flexible with the number of interconnected accounts.
Consoles still have one up on this system since with the "home console" hardware associated to your account you can buy one copy of the game and play it in two places simultaneously.

The old family library sharing in the tab is completely gone for me and I lost sharing with the "family" member i was sharing with

oh, okay this is still good I guess. For a moment I got excited because I thought we could play the same game at the same time via game share.

Wait, so 2 people cannot play the same game at the same time if it's only been bought once?! Whats the point of this then?! Thats the same as the previous sharing, but worse because now you cannot share outside your house.

I cant share library with my brother anymore, I live in the east most border between uruguay and argentina. he lives like 40km from my home, but in argentina´s side.
Steams says that we cant share games as a family because we are on different countries. Is there any way to fix this? It was working with the previous family sharing feature.
Or by household family they mean "same house"? if thats it it sucks, because I live alone, my whole family and friends lives on the argentinians side.

So what I gathered is, if you and your family member live in two places but in the same country it still locks you out, so if you log in to both accounts on one pc then will it allow both accounts in the family? Also correct me if I'm wrong but if you the owner of said game wants to play but your family member is playing, you the owner cant play. If this is true then it's bs, you being the owner of the game should have priority.

This seems like an overall downgrade.
I mean, it's great that everyone in a family has access to each other's libraries, that members can play different games in a library at the same time, and that they can play even while offline.

BUT, while there's always been a cap on how many people you can share your games with, this puts a hard cap on how many people can share their games with you.
Also, it puts a heavy emphasis on a single family unit, and I think that's a bad direction. What if I have a Steam Family owned by one of my parents and shared with my siblings (which gives us a shared, combined library), but also want to share my library (not including my sibilings' or parents' games) with my wife and kids?

Good improvements but I hope they eventually make it so shared games can be played together. It’s the main reason I buy games both me and my family are interested in on Xbox. I buy it once on the family console, then can access from my individual consoles to play with them. I really don’t wanna by a second copy of baldur’s gate just so my wife and I can play together, when 10+ years ago we could just play something split screen

Me and my brother share the same gaming laptop, can we still have separate saved game files with Steam Families?

Is familyshare possible across different IP addresses or does everyone have to be using the same IP address?

So far none has the same system as Playstation where other players are able to try out a game that your friend is currently playing or even better, have 2 accounts (1 is yours, the other belongs to your friends/family) under the same console then set your friend as primary while your friend does the same to yours then both of you can enjoy the same game for the price of 1.

I was invited to a family today. The person that owns it claims they can see MY library, but for some reason I can only see like 17 of their games out of the 97 they own.
