Man the entry level guitars are so good these days. My first guitar had an action that was a foot high and pickups that sounded like arse.

Where's the Yamaha Pacifica love? What no PAC012, 112J? Even the alnico V'd 112V etails at very similar price point to that Ibanez GIO. That's like leaving Yamaha out of an "your first motorbike" shootout. With its HSS alnico V and push-pull coil split config, the PAC112V is inarguably the most versatile of the three.
