Advise for beginners in archery. Don't "test out" your new bow that isn't sighted in in your flat with a small target. You might miss and hit a metal cupboard which you then have to cut open in order to get the arrow out which is now effectively blocking a door.
Totally didn't happen to me. Just wanted to give a good basic advise.

Though I’m starting my bow experience with a traditional long bow, I recognize there is a great advantage to take down recurve for beginners. One thing you missed is it’s cheap to get replacement limbs, so you can work up in weight, or use one for competing, and one for hunting, for example, and not drop a ton of money.

Wish I had someone like you in my town. I've never shot a bow, but am going to buy a recurve this week. I've wanted to try archery for years. I am tired of putting it off, but it is a big expense & I'm a little scared of making a stupid mistake. There is one gentleman at the store who is fairly helpful, so hopefully I can talk to him about it for a bit. I'm not ordering my bow online so the choices at the store are limited, But buying from a store does have its benefits, they help you set it up the first time etc.. & the return policies are a bit better.
