Everyone knows that a balanced breakfast is pivotal when it comes to kickstarting one's energy for the day. Obviously, diet, exercise, stress levels, and more all contribute to one's daily potential for productivity — but getting the proper nutrients to stay awake and alert throughout one's schedule is crucial. This is compounded even further when one's job is directly responsible for national — or even global — affairs, a fact not lost on British Prime Minister Winston Churchill. And while the iconic political figure's favorite first meal of the day wasn't the most outrageous thing you might find on a plate, his chow of choice was still a bit odd — especially when you factor in his biggest (and possibly most unhealthy) habit. This is the truth about Winston Churchill's favorite breakfast.

Interesting how some of the most influential people of history, and I suspect today, all have some sort of oddity about them.

This is such bollocks. Firstly, in those days the English breakfast was never served to a Gentlemen, he would help himself in a buffet style. Eggs, one rasher of bacon, toast and condiments constituted an "English breakfast", possibly a kedgeree or kippers and brown toast if staff are in residence but never all together. He would mix his morning red label with 90% tonic to cleanse the water and himself. Remember Sir Winston was 65 years old when he became PM and famous to the Empire. Before that, Lord of the Admiralty, writer, reporter and soldier. His diet changed massively in his later years but the constant booze intake remained, which was common in Whitehall, then and now I might add.

Sometimes people drink to get messed up and sometimes people drink because of an astronomical task that needs to be accomplished and it gives them the ruthlessness and courage to see it through. Cough Cough WW2

Great story. Although I doubt Churchill's tea came from a bag.

I’m amazed, Winston Churchill was portly, love his cigars, and definitely loved his alcohol, but lived to be 90. I don’t think he was an alcoholic, just loved to drink, but not in copious amounts.

I figured the typical English breakfast was his favorite. The BRITs are the only people in Europe that eat breakfast the way Americans do, but on most of mainland, Europe, a roll, or a croissant with butter and jam or pastry and coffee is sufficient for them. Very common in Spain, France, Germany, and Italy.

I'd totally have breakfast like that every day if I had a giant workforce to cook and serve for me.

For Americans who don't like tea....try it the way the British drink it next time you're there. It was a revelation to me when my Irish roommates made me tea with skim milk and sugar. It's good and actually gives just as much of a buzz as coffee!

Fried eggs, pastries, huge amounts of alcohol, cigar smoking;...and he lived to the ripe old age of 90.
If he had listened to the health scolds, he probably wouldn't have lived to see the end of the war.

You forgot to mention he was a functioning alcoholic, and most people would start to have a hangover by lunch if they followed how much he drank and smoked through the day. Breakfast was pregaming, lol

Teabags like in the illustrative picture? I don’t think so.

I have no idea how he did a whole glass of white wine at breakfast. It slows me down.

Winston Churchill had a very weak whiskey in the morning that was often called mouthwash. I think this is actually really interesting that he would drink alcohol so early and then run a country in war time. Their is a lot of stuff on his drinking habits and other war time leaders drinking habits that is really interesting.

I was doing research on Winston Churchill after taking some gummies, and watched this shortly after they hit so I'm really stoned but this was the most boring history video on this channel that I watched all the way through 😂

That looks a lovely breakfast, what a wise man. Not many of us please ourselves everyday, no wonder he rose to the very top.

This is a bit of a exaggerated version. He drank very watered down whiskey in the morning. A precaution to Malaria he had suffered from. As for breakfast I don't know but in Enoa boiled egg is your breakfast not a full English. Also reactioning effects were felt by even thr Royal Family so the pics seem excessive.
