Let's see it this way. Basically Churchill needed ammo made of bones. He couldn't use the European bones as he felt they were superior. So why not use bones of people far away and about whom his audience would not even bat an eyelid. That way he becomes a hero even though the bones used as ammo were those of innocent people whose lands his people invaded and enslaved. Clear and simple logical analogy based on facts. Nothing more. Nothing less

As Hitler was greatest villain for Europe and western countries, Wiston Churchill is and always be the greatest villain for colonial Asia and Africa. And Piers is racist too he is willing to talk about Jews life and Western lives and not Indian, African, Welsh and Irish lives. Also the world war was won because of America and Russian involvement and millions of soldiers from colonial countries not by British alone. So the Piers keep your ego and attitude on side and read a bit of history before you host any show. Just arguing that Winston Churchill was the person that won the war won't change the fact.

what Churchill did to Indians(go through the 1943 Bengal famine: An artificial catastrophe ) is no less than what Hitler did to Jews. And yet here ae some people addressing him as a war hero. Man, Piers Morgan sounds so insincere and bad faith here. He is just creating this straw man and attacking relentlessly, instead of actually engaging with what Afua Hirsch says.

Hirsch agrees that what Churchill did in WWII is admirable, remarkable, truly special. She also - rightfully - argues that Churchill personally carries a huge responsibility for the deaths of millions of Indians.

Churchill was an absolute hero in World War II. He also was an absolute racist who contributed to the deaths and suffering of millions in British colonies. I believe we as human beings are intelligent and capable enough to welcome both ideas at the same time and to see Churchill as he really was, in all his complexity.

It would make a interesting comparing to see, how lives he saved by going into war and also how many deaths he caused because of his actions in British colonies. Even after that people would say, as long as they are not our families, it is fine.

Winston Churchill was responsible for the Great Bengal famine that killed more than 3 million only in Bengal. That is just 1 state. That's a man who should have been tried for war crimes.
