In her interview, Anna stated that she does not compete with anyone on the ice, but simply tries to skate as well as she is capable of at the moment. Her winning gesture at the end says just that, not that she already felt like an Olympic champion. This is the rare case when an athlete loves sports in herself, and not herself in sports!

Anna is so hard on herself during training, and you can tell that her skating talent is not because she wants to win, but she genuinely enjoys it. She is graceful, technical and absolutely amazing. And the fact that she won is something much bigger. Sasha's performance was also amazing, but saying Anna didn't deserve the gold is like saying something like candy doesn't deserve its recognition.

anna doesn’t deserve the hate she gets, her skating is so beautiful and artistic and she’s a very nice and classy girl! <3 if you hate someone who doesn’t even know you exist for “taking the gold” from someone who also doesn’t know you exist… then perhaps it’s time for you to see a therapist.
