His whole argument is idiotic. There have been plenty of peoples and cultures throughout history who had no moral problem with killing small children…so clearly morality is subjective.

Yes it would different. There were many civilisations that sacrificed their babies to gods that they worshipped.

“If conditions were different you’d behave different.” Yes, obviously. If you live under a different God and he commanded you to kill small children, you’d kill small children. You face the exact same issue.

“Clearly, morality has changed over time, as our feelings about certain issues have changed, because morality is, first and foremost, based on emotion. Now as a confession, I’m not entirely comfortable with that fact. But my not liking it doesn’t make it false.”

"Darwin said that if we were bees we'd be ok with eliminating fertile people. Are you ok with eliminating fertile people?"
"No"
"What does that mean?"

It means he's not a bee, Einstein. I know you don't listen to other people's arguments, but at least try to keep track of your own ffs.

Yes animals do it, that's why people also do it. We have different morality, so we behave differently. Also war changes opinion about it very quickly, people throw rockets and don't think how kids are gonna do under attack

There is no such thing as 'objective' morality.

Morality is the cognitive process of differentiating between human intentions, decisions, and actions that are morally appropriate (ought to occur in a certain dilemma) from those inappropriate (ought not to occur in a certain dilemma).

Like all cognitive assessments, moral assessments always and necessarily involve the subject's own considerations. Therefore, morality is _always and necessarily_ SUBJECTIVE.

Each and every individual is the sole arbiter of his or her own morality. I, and I alone, determine which human behaviors are moral, amoral, or immoral, just as everyone else does.

Off course morality is subjective, for example if today a man on his 50s marry and consumate wuth a 9 year old girl, we all feel repulsed except the Mahoma followers

Yes we would because that already happened. People did that all the time throughout history

Yes, if things were different, things would be different. What does he expect him to say?

We today evolved under an omnivorous mechanism and thus justify killing animals. Bees do what they do too, and they're okay with it too. Morality indeed is subjective.

Morality is subjective... like how muslims dont class women as people and atheists class all humans as equal. You did a great job of proving why all religion is disguting

And if the ultimate being for which you declare is the objective moral source said killing small children is moral, you would follow it too. The argument can go both ways and doesn’t prove anything. It’s just saying “if this happened, it would be bad” while ignoring that that is not the reality.

I find it interesting that he keeps (mis)quoting Darwin as he was some kind of prophet, as if evolutionary science and the " origin of species" is like a holy book for scientists. He clearly projects his religious thinking onto science. Darwin was the first to discover the evolutionary mechanisms, but much has been discovered since then. And that is a big difference between science and religion. Religion claims to have the whole complete truth that is static. Scientists know that our comprehension of the universe is incomplete and that there is still much to be discovered.

Morality is subjective. Slavery was a cornerstone of American culture and people celebrated it and fought to keep it while homosexuality was illegal.

Would you kill someone who is fertile if God commanded you to?

Thats religion.

In essence this boils down to: you can derive from evolutionary science that our morals are just another survival tool, that means that morals are subjective, but i like my morals to be absolute. Religion claims morals are absolute. I like that much better. So religion must be true, because I like it better.
