Does this actually work when you're controlling variables in the first script from the inspector? Kinda seems like it just makes new instances of that script.

if you have the problem that u cant drag and drop the script from your assets into the inspector field. Make sure the script is applied to the GameObject and drag it from the inspector of the GameObject into the field where you reference the script not from the asset folder
