No fuel to Harley Carb? Check here first!

Fuel in tank? Petcock/fuel shut off open? No fuel coming through carb fuel feed line when you crank the starter? Check the vacuum line to the fuel shut off valve. This vacuum is supplied by the intake stroke while the motor is running or cranking. Once vac is applied, a small plunger pops open within the fuel shut off/reserve fuel valve that allows fuel to pass onto the carb.

Dude this video just saved life! (or at least made my day lol). My problem wasn’t quite the same either. Bike was running great and then all of the sudden it started up and bogged down right away, then wouldn’t start at all. After checking a million things I came across this video and realized that vacuum hose that comes off the pet cock pulled out and was disconnected! Thanks!

I was riding today. I was a mile from my house. My bike just quite. Its never done that before. I pushed it home. Took off the air filter and I didnt have any gas Shooting from the jet. I found your video and check the vac line on the back of the peacock and its was off. Thats you grate video. Saved me a lot of time

Had to put the old ignition back on so that meant the tank had to come off. When I put it back together forgot that damn vaccum line, thanks for this video...

I've already rebuilt my carb so this is my next problem area. They used windshield washer line because windshield wipers used to be vacuum operated. Thanks for showing the petcock off the bike so it was easy to see it.

Thanks for the video, I had this exact problem on my daughter's 2004 Sporty. We broke the vacuum line pulling the tank and fought starting the bike for a couple of hours. I even pulled the tank again, pulled the petcock off, opened it up, cleaned it and the fuel filter and still no fuel at the carb. $1 at O'Reilly to get a vacuum hose and she fired right up!!!

I believe you have saved me some blood sweat and tears.
My old 99 1200 seems to have the same thing. I backed it out of storage, fired it up, rode around my place, shut it off.
Washed it, detailed it. Fired it up, idled for about a minute, died.
Getting no gas to carb. After watching your video, I'm believing maybe I damaged the deteriorating vaccum line

Same bike same problem watch the video a little too late already rebuilt the car and also found that the line was dry rotted thanks though that clears it up that that's actually the problem

Very nice bike. Mine left me sit on New Years Day. After investigation and a rollback bill, this was my exact problem. It's probably the original hose, it just crumbled in my fingers. I have an anniversary edition too.
