Thanks for recording these stories. These men won't be here much longer, but their stories should live on.

My father, Edwin Sanders, began the war, 3 companies over from Audie Murphy. 3rd inf. Div. Was there with the rest from the very first day of Operation Torch Nov. 8th, '42. Did all the other Amphibs in the ETO as well. Monte Cassino, Anzio- all of it. The only he missed was Overlord. He was busy marching through Rome as a liberator at the time. The movie " To Hell and Back" was as much about him as 'ol Murph. He was only one of 6 men from his original company to survive to the bitter end in May of '45. For all you military buffs out there, he was born in Hamilton Ma. Patton himself had one of his homes about two miles down the road from my front door. I'd play on that M4 Sherman dedicated to George in the park downtown many times growing up. Dad never opened up very much about it until close to his passing. He was quiet spoken, his memories too painful to put into words. Make a new pal to see his head blown off next week. That sort of thing. He told me once "Son, you don't know what you can do. Until you have to." Hell of a generation.

Bless you sir. My dad's cousin was an 18 yr. old Marine at Iwo Jima and was the only survivor of his platoon. He had PTSD the rest of his life.

Thank you for you're service. The last just war we fought I can't believe this hero is still alive and has he is still sharp as a kmife. . He is a living legend it's truly amazing hearing first hand accounts in the 2020, s . The war ended 80, years ago let that sink in so he's about 100 years old or late 90, s. Go with God old hero truly thanks👍.

4 of my close Marine friends fought in the 5th. They all were wounded but came home alive. They are all gone now.
