My Dad was with the 2/28th of the 5th Marine Division on Iwo Jima. He told similar stories. He’s gone now.

It's amazing any of these guys are still going. Last one I saw was at the grocery store walking by himself wearing his WW2 veteran hat. 2020 right at the start of the coof.

Oh hey it’s Mr. Graves again! Howdy Don, I hope life is well.

I first heard Mr. graves speak in 2004 on Christmas Eve. Standing under the open bomb bay of a Liberator, he used that same phrase. “The Air Corps made beautiful holes. Tailor made for 3 marines to live in.”

As a former infantryman in the US Army, i have to say that the Soldiers and Marines from this guy's era were just an all around different breed of human. Those men are what legends are made of, and we are damn lucky to have had them.
