In this video, we dive into why AMD's upcoming Ryzen 9000 series might not be the best choice for some PC gamers. While the specs on paper look impressive, the real-world performance and cost-effectiveness tell a different story. We'll explore how the increased focus on high-core counts and cutting-edge features may not translate into better gaming experiences for everyone. Plus, we'll discuss alternative options that can definitely offer better value for your money, especially if you're not looking to break the bank. Let's cut through the hype and see if Ryzen 9000 is really worth the upgrade for gamers in 2024.

Only 12% faster than 5000X3D means my 5600X3D AM4 will be relevant through two newer gens for almost a decade of high quality gaming. AM4 is beyond legendary, its historic. EDIT: 9600X/9700X dropped and flopped, 5600X3D is only slightly behind on average and beats them in several games.

No one really expected the 9000 non-x3D to beat the already existing x3D CPUs, or be on par with them. These are the normal CPUs which are expected to be faster than the older normal CPUs. Gamers are waiting for the 9000 x3D models which are to be released in a few months, beginning with the 9950 x3D and the 9900 x3D. The 9800 x3D will come even later, probably around CES in January or maybe even in Feb or March. These are the droids you are looking for.

Yeah but nobody expected it to beat X3D. Not everyone is a gameR. But yeah a tad bit expensive for sure.

AMD's 3D chips are certainly good for gaming, but the idea that if you're a gamer you should avoid AMD's non-3D chips is absurd.

Gamers wait for the X3D models (of course)

NEVER buy ANY CPU without multiple "Independent" reviews and *ONLY* but it after it's been out for awhile. You can never go wrong with that!

The leaked prices for the 9950X is hard to beat especially with the whole Intel fiasco. 🤷‍♂️ 9950X-$599

I'm switching to AMD for sure, Intel have shown that they don't care about their customers, I'm not going to support corporations who only care about their shareholders.

Personally I'm looking forward to the 9950x3d if both ccd have additional cache and AMD is not charging an arm and leg.

I'm still on Zen 2 3900X, 1900 FCLK and 3800 16-16-16-34 DDR4. I'm not going to upgrade until Zen 6, which will be the 3rd iteration of AM5 much like Zen 2 is for AM4. Gaming at 4K with 7900 XTX Taichi is smooth as butter with my current rig.

Idk we have 2 leaks and the numbers are way way better then i expected and it will cost less at launch the falgships that is compared to last gen. For me it does make sense when it seems that boost they gave it did in fact make it go a bit ahead of the 7800x3d in pure gaming.

We shall see though lol

If those numbers of the 9900X vs 7800X3D are true, then just being close to it means the 9800X3D will be a gaming beast!

Great video, as always, thanks. Unlike the gaming GPU market, at least the consumer CPU market is looking fairly competitive, and we get decent performance uplifts from one generation to the next. Zen 5 and Arrow Lake look fairly impressive. Unfortunately, the same can't be said about the gaming GPU market, which is in a terrible state, and lack of competition is only making matters worse. I am genuinely concerned about the future of PC gaming. The graphics card is probably the most exciting component for PC gamers since it has the biggest impact on gaming performance. If the market is in a bad place for gaming GPUs, that's definitely going to negatively impact the future of PC gaming. Competition is the only thing that can save the gaming GPU market.

Makes perfect sense for people who have sense, and don't wanna pump 700W through their system to get irrelevant frames, and instead, cap their framerate.

You do realize that "gamers" also do lots of other things on their $2000+ PC, aside playing games too, right?

Comical take, but hey, thanks for the laughs.

Ah but no. I use my Ryzen 7700X for music production (and some video). I need strong single core performance and it had to fit my budget. My target was Mac Studio Max M1 but for half the cost. And that was possible.

Dude you have info like two weeks ago, through the last week there were new leaks about 9900x being as fast or even faster (5%) than 7800x3d

The hype is real.
These benchmarks are before Intel faced their massive 13th and 14th Gen CPU failures that will be unable to run these speeds when a new BIOS is released in August.
So the only choice you have is the company that's given us AM4 since 2017 and AM5 until 2027+ with many CPUs released even to this day for AM4.
