When I had a significant other, I would always show love by listening to her, listening is very important. She told me one day while talking, that sometimes she doesn't believe I kiss her forehead every morning when I'd leave for work. I leave at 5am and she didn't have to get up till 7. The first time I did it, I thought it was cute. I put on some of her lip gloss and kissed her forehead. Whenever she got up to get ready for work she always looked in the mirror and would brush her teeth. Thats when she saw my lip print on her head and she called me crying saying that was the sweetest thing anyone had done. For her birthday I faked going to work to drive 3 1/2 hrs away to get 6 dollar cupcakes from Crumbs Bakery because she seen an article a few months before her birthday and loved the flavor combos they had.

My partner and I fell in love when we were 11. She knew before I did, but we both fell, hard, and have been in love with each other since.
I knew I was in love with her when we were sitting in her mom's kitchen eating the worst food I've ever eaten (which we'd made together after scrounging through cupboards and putting together what little we could find) and I sat there thinking, "I have to eat this because I made this with her, and I don't want to hurt her or disappoint her...I don't want to want to ever disappoint her as long as I live because it would hurt too much. I love her."

And that was scary. Because not only were we 11 years old, we lived in a very rural, very conservative place, and though I am a trans man, I was raised female and it wasn't until much later that I transitioned. We never talked about out love, because we knew it wouldn't be tolerated, welcomed, or accepted by our community. So we lived side by side, tidally locked as best friends pained by a love we desperately wanted and couldn't have.

For a time it was too difficult and too painful, so we went our separate ways to try to make a go of it, free from the specter of a love that couldn't be. Over time we each had successful long term relationships, and while we loved those people, we weren't in love with them. We always measured our partners against each other. Fair or not...it was what it was.

Fast forward into our mid and late twenties. I finally spoke my truth and came out as a transgender man, she left a bad marriage, and we were at last able to say to each other "I love you."

Since then every day of my life is spent finding ways to live love as a verb not just an abstract emotion. For the last three years we've both been in school full time, working full time, we have our own business, a mastiff puppy, and two kids. Finding ways to make her day less stressful, take some of the load off her back, give her free time or quiet time to study-- those are some some the ways I show love. I show my love for her by cooking dinner every night so she doesn't have to. I show my love by doing everything I can to learn and grow as individual so I can be the best man, partner, and father that I can be. I love her by loving our children with shameless love. If our 4 year old daughter wants us to be superheroes when we go to the hardware store, I put on a cape right along side her. My love is homegrown tomatoes because I know she loves the way they taste. My love is Swedish Fish and Diet Coke after a hard day at work because it reminds her of middle school and simpler times. My love is letting her sleep in every Saturday morning, until she wakes up on her own, and having coffee ready when she comes upstairs, because even though I don't like it, to her coffee is the drink of the gods.

My love for her is and has always been so intense and so deep, that even while living on opposite sides of the globe, while talking to her on the phone I could feel her hand in mine.

Life is not always perfect, and we have our share of hard days. With intense love often comes intense disagreement---but we also have a foundation of deep and abiding respect and trust. We have a commitment to each other to always fight fairly, and to come back together to work toward solutions rather than leave disagreement to fester. We validate each other's emotions and try to see things from each other's perspectives. This too, is another way of showing love.

I am for her and she is for me. She's always been the one.

I show my love by recognizing my faults in the relationship and always making the effort to be a better person for him (and for myself too because personal growth does nothing but improve your life) because I've never known anyone who is more deserving of love, kindness and patience. He is genuinely my favorite person in the whole wide world even when he's on my last nerve haha.

The very first time I realized I loved someone was when I wanted to live for this person. I was very suicidal at the time and dying would've been easy, but living was not.

I've been around for a very long time. My experience has been that love is not a "feeling". People become blind when they have this "feeling" and they get into some very bad situations by being blind. Love is respect. Wait until that "feeling" goes away, then you can make a decision on marriage, which is a legal binding agreement. yes I know...takes out all of that romance.

Love this show! Such great spirit and stellar filmmaking, guys! This is my new favorite thing! Seriously I've made a few travel shows and it's not easy. But you did that AND answered life's big questions? Bravo! Also... I hate you for being so young and talented.

I fell in love 😍 with my husband when I was 12, he liked me too! We didn't see each other for two years and when we saw each other again he asked me out and worked hard on our relationship since. Now we are 23 and married, and have been dating for now 8 years. Soon to be our 1 year wedding anniversary! Takes work but it's so worth it, that's how you know it's the one because you are willing to forgive and love that person no matter what. And you are willing to give your all for them. That's love! 😊

I totally agree that in our darkest times we often find the deepest love. The one who can help me smile on my worst day, but after I've cried on there shoulder, is the one I am so blessed to be in love with.
