Appreciate the video Shane.

Seems like this is a step backwards.
1. Wi-Fi requirement
2. Unable to daisy-chain and use power cords from both sides.
3. Requires using multiple apps for full use.
4. Seems bulky and installation looks destructive
5. Initial reaction is that these lights seem expensive without doing needed research

As with most things, version 2 release may be the better option if you can wait

After watching this, I absolutely hate them in every way, light strips are clearly superior, I’ve never seen a brand new product look so outdated, but great work as always Shane

Thanks for showing this. I was inspired, but never actually acted on it, your original under cabinet lighting install. But this is better I think. Although perhaps pricier. I wish someone (...clear throat, you) would show the side by side look of the pucks under the cabinets next to the bars so I can see the light spread comparison. My wife thinks she would like them better and I am not convinced. The down glow might look more charming, but I wonder how it would affect the task lighting.

Nice install Shane. You did a great job of overcoming the shortfalls of the design. I’m glad that Matter is finally coming along.

I ordered 8 of these and hardwired them in the other week. FWIW, the in/out power ports are interchangeable! I checked the wiring when I had the light opened to hardwired it in! The input and output ports are literally just tied together. So either port works for power. They are probably just trying to stop stupidity of plugging two inputs into the same light.

Great video! There hasn’t been much choice for HomeKit and undercabinet lighting and I’m glad these are now available!
*If you’re not using color and only white, then maybe just a smart switch to operate the entire circuit

WOW, those are really bright. I put LEDs on my cabinets too. I like to create a scene where if there is an emergency like a water leak. They turn all my lights in the house red. This way I will need to look for a leak some where. I also creat a “cooking” scene and a “dinner” scene. It is cool to have the lights switch to the different modes depending on what I am doing. But, these are basic on what you do in your home. Thanks for the video. Love the updates and seeing new products.

Another great video Shane. Thanks to your videos, I installed lighting in my kitchen using matter enabled Nanoleaf light strips! Using extension wires from Amazon I was able to work around my range hood and even sneak around a window to my floating shelves. Like you, I used diffusers to soften the light's edges. I ended up with just 2 accessories in HomeKit, one each for upper and lower lights. Wemo remotes completed the install for easy operation from multiple locations. Even then, that install seems easier than this GE design. I hope they use your feedback to improve the product.

Thanks for the warning Shane. I have also discovered some "bugs" in Matter devices, so I'll avoid non "native" homekit devices for another year or so until the matter bugs are worked out. Also can't say I'm impressed with the hoops you had to go through with your installation. This will be a "pass" product for me but I do appreciate your honest review.

I was interested in these but hadn’t actually done any research yet. Thanks 🙏 so much for all the info. I think I’ll stay with Phillips Hue though. I like the concept of these and I like the brightness they can reach but it sux with all the decisions needed to be made because they don’t allow options. I always have the native apps as well as being in Apple Home, so there’s one negative. With the sizes available I’d need them to but against each other to have two 24” ones fit but looks like they don’t plug in flush. I also have a stainless commercial kitchen so can’t drill them in. Just too many cons. Also losing the switches if it’s in Apple Home, like what’s with that. Sorry GE. lol.

Interesting product, thank you. My kitchen has old-school hardwired CFL under-cabinet lights, so the ability of these to perfectly replace the old light fixtures, using the same concealed/built in wiring, yet still provide new features and smart control, is highly appealing. They are fairly pricey, which is a shame, but considering how perfectly they'll replace the old lights, without needing to run extra wiring all over, makes for a pretty strong selling point for me. I haven't found any other product that would come close, without needing to drill a ton of new holes all over, or give up on anything other than the most basic on/off/dim by converting to dumb fixtures that offer LED (vs CFL) as the only real advantage over what's working now. (and the only hardwired ones like that which I've found are actually in a similar price range as these) Do you think there's any chance a firmware upgrade and (enhanced matter capabilities... over time?) can bring the lighting modes to Apple Home control?

Hey Shane, really enjoyed the video. I have a small window for a kitchen project and the puck lights would be the best option for me. If I needed to buy extenders, where would be a good place to get them. It’s an anniversary present.

Nice review. If you direct wire does that solve any of the cabling issues you mentioned? And how do you daisy chain the power with direct wire?

Great video. Question about matter via smart homes are becoming more popular and consumer choices are vast, what are your thoughts on wifi vs Zigbee vs zwave ? I am finding wifi option is cheaper, but have connectivity limitations and routers are rapidly reaching device limit.

My exact scenario. Thanks. Shame they are not low voltage.

I don’t see this item available in Canada yet, darn!

Yeah but you can just ask Siri to set kitchen counters to 50. Now add a vibration sensor from aqara or Third Reality to the bottom of the counter tops. Walk in kitchen lights at 50% tap the counter and the lights come up to 100%.

These seem like a great solution to under cabinet lighting. Im planning on doing under and top cabinet lighting. I initially decided on using Govee M1 Strips since they are a less expensive option (currently 16ft on sale for $59 on their site) However I am intrigued by these and they offer a more professional and clean look without the need of purchasing channels and diffusers, extensions, etc. What I may do is get these for under my cabinets (possibly hardwiring to outlets) and then running the M1s for the top of my cabinets. The GEs for both the top and bottom is too pricey imo. Since they are both matter, the M1s and GEs should be able to group together in HomeKit right?
