PS5 on 720P HDR TV

720p TVs have been maxed-out and perfected a long time ago... It was the very first all-digital HD format, so no surprises that it can still look pretty decent or OK with ANY modern game console. Using the right HDMI cables (up to current specs), calibrating the TV according to your room's lighting conditions, and placing the TV at a proper viewing angel/distance that feels most comfortable to your eyes is the KEY for better picture quality!

3:18 What's happening here is that the PS5 is outputting in 1080p and the TV is downsampling the PS5's signal to the TV's native resolution, which is in this case technically 768p, which is ever so slightly higher quality than 720p. You aren't getting 1080p in your display, just in the signal that the PS5 is sending to it. The display is actually showing the PS5 at 768p.
