3 Ways to MAXIMIZE your Auto Accident Insurance Claim

I had an auto accident in which I was not at fault. My SUV was hit on the rear while I was making a left turn. I had to file a claim to the other Party's Auto insurance company. In this video I share my experience, story, and 3 tips as to how you can maximize/increase your auto insurance claim. A lot of people settle for the first offer not knowing that it is negotiable. A lot of people believe they are being treated fairly by Insurance Companies, and sometimes people are treated fairly and sometimes they are not. It is your job to do your homework. Know what your car is worth(plus property taxes, sales tax, and extra costs of searching and buying a new car).
3 Tips:
1. Know that your Insurance claim is always negotiable. You do not have to settle for your first offer and take it. The insurance companies can always increase their offer to you. If you refuse to settle for the first offer they usually will increase their first offer.

2. Always say "NO" to their 1st and even 2nd offer and back up your stance with good logical reasons. Provide good reasoning.

3. Address the other details besides the accident and damages such as missing work, physical pain, medical issues, trauma, pain and suffering, extra expenses and costs due to accident etc.... Turn little details into a big issue and dramatize.

At the end if you feel you are being treated fairly and getting a fair compensation for your damages it would be up to you to decide to settle or not to settle. Even when you get your insurance claim check for your car repairs, the repairs may take 1-2 weeks in which case you will not have access to your car. So you will have extra expense of renting one. You have to add that rental into your claim during your negotiations....

Good luck ! Be safe out there !

Excellent info and case study from your accident. I’m dealing with this now and the insurance company is already making it difficult just to get the basic things done. Dealing with Progressive and they are not my insurer. It gets so much more complicated when you have medical bills.

I was told my my adjuster “this is not negotiable”. Any thoughts on that? By the way don’t use PROGRESSIVE auto insurance. Took two months just to get an adjuster to look at the vehicle.

IMO the best way is to do a few things, and you missed one, which is hard to apply to a Salvaged title in some state, #1 get a LOT of estimates, take the TOP 3 of say 6 and use that as a starting point, #2 then add in rental costs, time for how long your car will be off the road, #3 ALWAYS go to the hospital, no matter what. Soft tissue pain is $6k to $8k alone. #4 Also, if you have a normal title, you can claim Diminished Value and then #5 time missed from work, normally 2 or 3 days.

I have full windshield coverage, what if I claim insurance for a windshield replacement, then 3 weeks later a big rock hits it and I need to replace it again, can I just claim it again to get it replaced or do I have to wait a certain time??

I get quotation from workshop on repairing my bumper about 1.2k and insurance adjuster agreed to pay the amount. Can I just tell adjuster that just give me a cheque instead?

🇨🇦 My insurance company made a decision too soon. About my sons accident (occasional driver) . I got an email he was 100% at fault with out even receiving our self reported -report. I forgot we had a dash cam . We submitted the info. Showing it clearly wasn’t my sons fault . Holy shit did they ever ghost me! Could never escalate my call and my agent wasn’t available … ever!! Anyway, I called the insurance bureau of Canada, they gave me advice, I got my van fixed, rental car, and didn’t have to pay a deductible . I couldn’t believe what I went through. !

Thanks for the video. Someone drunk hit my car and two other cars in parking lot in front of my apartment. When I got to the scene the police were there and the drunk guy was being arrested. I was told that the drunk guy was doing forward and backward and hitting three cars in total. So the police know who did it and they have the report. So I think I have proof that it is not my fault. The damage is a huge dent above the rear right wheel. Back window is completely shattered. The trunk is hard to open and close. The signal light is broken. What should I do next? My car is a 2016 Toyota Corolla and the damage is about 10 thousand dollars in my estimation. I have the plate number of the hit and run car. I have premium coverage insurance.

This is a little bit similar to this Saturn outlook my parents cease to have the undercarriage was hit by a white smalle car when they were backing out of the driveway It lifted the car up and pushed the car into the driveway ensured it a little bit But the undercarriage was so messed up that the car was totaled but if you look from the outside it didn't look like it was totaled

honestly i am confused by your video, you show what they valued your totaled car at. but they didn't offer you that amount? And then you go into negotiating with them and getting different estimates on repairs to the car. But its totaled so i am not sure what is going on.

Wow, I have similar damage to my vw jetta from being rear ended. I have an appraisal for the damage tomorrow morning and the insurance company has agreed to send a check for the appraisal amount. I paid $2200 for my jetta so this is great haha

Hi, glad you/both parties involved were okay.. Question: I was involved in an accident where I was a passenger in my friends car, he crashed into a tree, he’s insured by Geico I had 3 fractured ribs, a lacerated liver & staples in my head, lost my job & am in pain. Around how much do you believe/estimate I will be paid out once I file a claim from his insurance?

Do you have any experience in regards to this. My car also was in accident similar to yours, rear ended and I was not at fault. The car has been in the repair shop for over a month due to the lack of parts according to the repair shop. I had to return my rental car today, but aren't I entitled for a rental because the other person insurance is paying for it and not my own? Thats why the auto body shop is confuse as well but when they try to call my insurance they said the other insurance is not obligated to continue paying.

GREAT ADVICE!!! I had the same thing happen to me and I got offered a check and a recommended shop. I have a friend who is a mechanic and said he could do it cheaper.

Would you advise going to a recommended shop or have a friend fix it?

I was t-boned and my car was totaled. Thankfully someone had a Ring door camera and it had recorded the incident, and the other party’s insurance, GEICO, quickly agreed that it was their insured’s fault. After assessing that the vehicle was totaled, the adjuster gave me an assessed value of $17, 200, which was actually a lot more than I had anticipated. But meantime I had requested comps from the local car dealership where I had the car serviced, and their comps came back at $17, 350. Sounds like the $17, 200 is close enough, right? I thought so, initially, but then asked the adjuster about sales tax and registration. She said that those amounts - app. $1, 500, were already added to her payout. I responded that the comps I got from the dealership didn’t include those amounts, so basically, her $17, 200 was $1, 650 lower than theirs. She requested more info from the comps (VIN’s) and I forwarded that request on to the dealership, but before they replied, she called me and said she’d gotten an additional $1, 500 added to the payout, so $18, 700. I agreed to that. So yeah, it can pay to do a bit of research.
