Ostrich Egg Omelette!

I've always wanted to try ostrich egg and managed to find an ostrich farm in Ste Eustache. Placed an order a few weeks ago, and an egg became available. So I made my very first ostrich egg omelette. It was delicious... Be sure to like, share and subscribe for more awesome videos!

So just to field some more questions:

1) The egg cost $32 CDN.


3) From what I was explained, they don't actually "cultivate" ostrich eggs. But they do sell the ostrich eggs that don't get fertilized (as opposed to wasting them). They are able to tell which ones have been successfully fertilized by x-raying them.

4) It tasted like a regular omelette, only creamier (as though someone had added cream to a regular omelette).

5) I know it would have been better to make a hole on both ends, but I wanted to (and did) keep the egg as intact as possible to keep as a mantle piece. Even the empty shell is impressive.

6) Ostriches weigh up to 450 pounds, and can kill a lion with two kicks. In fact, in a fight between a lion and an ostrich, from what they told us, it's a 50-50 battle.

7) People freaking out about the screw-driver. C'mon, what's the big deal? It's like a one-pronged fork. lol. And I did cook the egg after. Besides, our hands are so much dirtier than that screw-driver.

8) There was no shell in the omelette :)
