How to use a Birthing Ball to induce Labor – Best Birth Ball Exercises to speed up and induce labor

Nathalie Kaufmann, Consultant for Natural Birth Preparation, and Mathias Ritter, Science Expert, teach you how to use a birthing ball to induce labor. These birthing ball exercises are intended to engage your baby deeper in your pelvis so that more pressure is being put on your cervix. The additional pressure, as well as the stimulation from the movements, can help you kick-start contractions, if your body is ready for it. However, these 6 simple exercises on and with a birthing ball cannot only help you induce labor. They can also help you prepare your body for labor. Therefore, they are also a great way to speed up the time until your body is ready for labor. Finally, these exercises are also great pregnancy stretching exercises for the last couple of weeks of your pregnancy. Therefore, they can also help you relieve some of the tensions and the pain that you feel in your back!

FREE MINI BIRTHING COURSE:
We invite you to watch our free MINI BIRTHING COURSE, in which we teach you how (not) to breathe during labor. In fact, we show you with the help of a measurement device, how “good” and “bad” breathing techniques affect your body and labor.

------------------------------------------------

BIRTH BALL SIZE:

We recommend the following birth ball:

You can find a size guide in the product description of the ball that we recommend above!

From our experience though, the following sizes are okay given your body size:
Select Size S (38 – 45cm) if you are smaller than 4’8”
Select Size M (48 – 55cm) if you are between 4’8” and 5’4”
Select Size L (58 – 65cm) if you are between 5’4” and 5’8”
Select Size XL (68 – 75cm) if you are between 5’8’” and 6’3”
Select Size XXL (78 - 85cm) if you are taller than 6’3”

Please note: unfortunately, there is an error in one of our slides in the video. When we tell you which size is correct, if you are taller than 5'8", we say that you should go for the following size:
22.8"-25.6" (68-75cm)
The size (in cm) in brackets is correct, however, that size is 26.77" - 29.5" and not 22.8"-25.6" as we say in the video! We are very sorry for that mistake!!!

"If your body is ready for it." That was my favorite quote from the entire thing. I feel like a lot of doctors want to rush things before the Mom's body is ready and we end up with too many c sections following an induction. I'm only 3 days past my due date and the doctor would have wanted to induce at this point.

Love your videos! I just found them in week 40 of my second pregnancy, and I appreciate that your are straight to the point, scientifically based, and clear in your communication. I also appreciate when you have time stamps in the videos. I also like the communication between the two of you, and it is refreshing and less monotone that you are two people talking. Your accents also reminds me of watching Eurovision, which I love :D

Oh Thank you so much to both of you guys…(finally a straightforward and simple video to follow) began these exercise since 30 weeks pregnant & honestly at first I was skeptical cause I never tried birthing ball exercise before for my 3 other pregnancies. Now with the baby No.4 I wanted things to speed up cz baby number 3 had to do a membrane sweeping twice for things to speed up since I had past due date going on 41 week….& baby was born only after 3hours labour and caused tearing…( it was a traumatic experience for my husband & I) now just delivered baby No. 4 last Saturday at 38 weeks 4 days, all along I was doing these routines everyday & they really helped me.once again a warm thank you to you guys❤

I love your voices, really engaging but relaxing at the same time.
Your video demonstrations are very useful. And so great how much detail you go into.
I also like that you aren’t getting women’s hopes up that they will be able to induce labor if their body isn’t ready yet. I’ve seen too many that do that which isn’t great.
