Ciao everyone! Today I'm shopping my closet for Spring 2024 trends since spring trends can already be found in our closet and we can update our wardrobe for spring without shopping.

Making new outfits out of old clothes is a great way to build a sustainable wardrobe, to use the clothes you already have and find your personal style without shopping. I hope you like the looks!

Thank you for watching! xx

On this channel, I share #slowfashion and #sustainablefashion tips that center around how to #shopyourcloset, and restyling pieces you already own. I also spotlight brands that I believe in every now and then. I believe in #creativityoverconsumption, and that we all have the power to be conscious consumers.

Slow fashion looks different for everyone, and I'm so grateful you share this space with me!

Cautionary tale about wearing wide leg flowy pants for air travel: I did just this, and the excess fabric on my pant leg got caught in the escalator at DFW. I was alone, and I honestly thought I was going to die (I was able to pry the fabric out of the gears at the very last minute). Hike up those pants for escalator treks, or opt for something equally comfortable without the voluminous threat to your wellbeing.

“I do not have EITHER of those” when talking about square toe or mesh ballet flats was one of the most relatable things I’ve heard you say to the point where I gasped in delight! 😂 I don’t have most of what you own, but I love to watch your styles come together and think about what I could work with in my closet. It was just a moment of surprise to hear you say something so many of us say when trying to recreate outfits from these inspo videos! ❤

SKY BLUE "trend" could be a suggestion to experiment with exchange pale blue wherever you would usually wear white. How about trying pale blue with browns, or purple instead of white.

BETTER THAN TROUSERS could be modifying straight wide trousers to change the shape or volume of the cuff. Wrap a ponytail elastic around cuff fabric on the inside ankle and tuck it up and inside the now snug ankle--similar to how you would gather the front hem of a top and tuck it up under a sweater. The idea would be to create a faux jogger cuff that sets off a barrel or balloon shape from your existing trousers.

ROMANTIC STYLING with an edge sounds like it could be accomplished by combining unexpected opposites of materials like leather and lace, structure like a tailored jacket and a chiffon blouse or high-low like biased satin and crochet or denim. Or mixing masculine and feminine like tacking flowers to a fedora. You did a great job draping the scarf as a halter, and you could have easily tied it to a structured bag handle. The idea of sticking bows on clothing makes me think of how Patti Smith would tie ribbons onto the button holes of the men's jackets that she wore on stage.

BEIGE tonally looks great, but it also looks really great with light blue. And creamy, yellowy beige looks great with cool light greys (almost light blue).
I loved the all-camel look with the belt over the wrapped blazer.
DRAPE could be an open shirt dress buttoned at the front waist and wrapping the skirt edge to the back where you would attach the hem corners. Layered over a miniskirt or cigarette pants and a close fitting tank might be interesting. Both the right and wrong sides of the fabric would have to be presentable. A belt or sash would help it look more intentional. I have a turquoise silk shirt dress in my closet that would work (sticking to the shop our closet theme). 👗👗👗

I love this shop our closet exercise. The article is a great challenge or inspiration to look for specific elements and test the versatility of what we have in our closets. Fun!🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

I am always so impressed by your ability to "ad lib" your way through a fashion video. This is a great example...and very useful because it addresses trends without insisting we go out and shop for them. Once again you are the queen of slow fashion! Thanks, Alyssa. (I am going to address the "relaxed silhouette" look in my own closet.)

I "LOL-ed" when you read out "elevated" clothing (i.e. dress up a bit!) I went a gala fundraiser last night - I'm 60 and have never been at an event this level of semi-formal! It was a 60s fashion theme, and I was like a kid in the candy store! So beautiful! It was last-minute, so I had one day to educate myself and go down the rabbit hole. I love it. I remember it as a kid a little, and my mom was always full swing dress and bouffant hairdo! My mother instilled in me to dress "up", and she (84) and I still do this every day. I feel better doing it.

Last winter I had an abdominal hernia surgery and my recovery was really complicated so I couldn`t wear any "real pants" with zippers and structure. I went online and bought 2 sets of velour jogging suits cause I was getting depressed and feeling like s... wearing pajamas all day. I needed something that looked nice and was comfy, even if no one was going to see me.
Well, after I recovered, I still wanted to wear them but not only as loungewear so I discovered that by pairing up the pants with boots and a nice blouse, they actually look quite chic and elevated! They are straight-leg pants, and don`t have elastic on the bottom, so they look great as more formal pants!

I avoid wide trousers when I know I need to go to public loos on travel 😅

I have eagerly anticipated this video from you, Alyssa, because you only encourage shopping your closet. No hauls (thank goodness!). ❤ Red is gorgeous on you. In fact, all of these outfits were fabulous. I struggle with flats as the sole of my foot/heel aches, and they don't really accommodate an orthotic. But I have low heeled shoes, so I will substitute (adapt and overcome 😉). Thank you, Alyssa 😊

Alyssa! Flats are in? I can’t believe it! I had to get rid of all my high heels 👠 because I was experiencing extreme leg cramps and pain. So glad it's trending this year. 😂
