Top 10 Classic Muscle Cars

MOPAR, Mustangs and meaty motors -- they are all part of this inspiring Top 10 list of the best classic American muscle cars, unlike the cars today that pose as muscle cars. Sure, some cars such as Porsche, Lamborghini and Ferrari could be categorized as muscle, but those cars were built with a different richer clientele in mind. The true muscle car was built for the everyday American who would spend from $500 to a couple grand more in the late 60s and early 70s for that one jaw-dropping feature -- more power! Through the ages, boys have always been attracted to their toys, these toys just happened to be bigger, badder and with a lot more muscle than their standard counterparts.

1970 Olds 442 with a 455 v8 His and Hurst shifter. This car was a fast back and looked a lot like a GTO. What makes this car notable is the bigger engine (69 442 had a 400 not 455) Like the Buick GTS both 455's where Olds engines. A beautiful car with no need for any upgrades after purchase being you could get power windows, ac and still beat any car on the road minus the Mustang Boss

just a slight fact correction the first muscle car is considered by many people to be the 64 1/2 mustang
bonus surprising fact they were originally intended by ford to be a family car hence the rear bench seat and some mustangs even having a front bench seat

The 68 and 69 dodge charger are my fav muscle cars of all time.

It's kind of surreal to hear a British accent/speech pattern naming of these cars.... for example, ZED-L-1 (ZL1), CID being pronounced 'sid', or 'FOUR TWO SIX' instead of the American FOUR TWENTY SIX.  Nothing wrong with it, don't get me wrong - just kind of peculiar-sounding to my American ears.

These are all American muscle cars. Why don't you try a Top Ten about muscle, or sports cars, from different countries?  I know Australia has it's own culture of muscle cars, mainly built during the years 1962-1979. I'm sure that the U.K. also had it's share of " performance enhanced" cars too. And who knows, maybe even Russia and India may have had some too ( though that may seem ridiculous lol).
