Do they really understand what we say, think, and feel? Recent research suggests dogs know more about our language and emotions than you might think

Molly and I joke about our dog Jack not being the brightest bulb in the pack, but sometimes for fun we call him by other words–Refrigerator! Doorknob! Snack!–using the same tone of voice as if we were calling his actual name and he never responds. Just looks at us like we're saying nonsense. He probably thinks *we're* pretty dim.

I heard quite recently that the human/dog relationship is much older than previously thought. Instead of 12, 000 years, it is now believed to be as long as 30, 000 years, maybe. And the scientists didn't call it a relationship. They called it co-evolution. I seems that dogs only BARK to us humans. It is most-likely their attempt to talk to us, because they see how much talking WE do. Wild dogs do not do barking between themselves. This would explain why so many people can hear if a dog barking is happy/sad/angry... etc.

I know what a dog wants by mostly body language but i can understands barks a bot too.

Also, my dog does a little dance whenever we come home after an extended amount of time (More than an hour) and barks out the window for a few minutes after one of us leaves. I think he misses us when we go away.
