The last time I trusted myself I ended up in the darkest of places.

Truly I am embarrassed of everything I said out of arrogance, malice and in the pursuit of my own happiness. Bless you Father.

100% correct, the ego gives you false delusions that you can prevail without God.

Grew up in an Orthodox Christian household, nominally have been christian all my life. I've been struggling with alcohol for years now, I can be sober for a long time, so the addiction itself is not a problem, but when I drink I always feel like I'll have everything under control. I'm so full of myself at that time and my ego is always looking for a disagreement and fight with my loved ones. In the process I hurt them emotionally. Pray for me brothers and sisters, I want to leave this lifestyle behind and move on. Thank you, father for beautiful video.

At times when I make decisions on my own selfish needs, the more I understand the sentence "Deny yourself, and take up your cross". Thank you!

Even when your “self” has been informed by experts and authorities, be humble and trust in God.

Much easier said than done.

Thats funny. It was the moment i fully acknowledged my nothingness, and when i stopped trusting myself, that i was saved. And then God led me to His church ☦️ Hallelujah!!!

this is so true. Even when we think we know best, that is when we are most at risk. i never thought I could get a girlfriend who is Godly, beautiful and kind. Yet here I am, thanks to the Lord. However, at first, I thought she was a unicorn of sorts, but no, it is God that is showing me I am indeed worthy of such a woman. And if it does not work out with this woman, it was not God's ultimate plan, another one will present themselves to me in God's perfect timing.

Funny i tried throughout my twenties to take control and do it my way. I was MISERABLE. Now i take a step back and let God control and ive never been happier.

As a youth, I was a very devote Lutheran. At age 11, I gave into sin in the form of lust. Years later I would blame God for my own sin. At 32 I had several moments I realized there is way I got by with my own wits and started having the strangest and oddest dreams. After a while, ran out of things to hate. Its a good feeling to even find love for enemies, as hard as a piece of flesh is to love enemies

I believe God brought me videos from you at this exact moment. This is the third video in a row from you that popped up at the top of my feed that hit me right in the heart. I made a truly poor choice today when I trusted in myself. I've been in extreme mental pain and anguish that has been causing me a lot of stress, anxiety, and worry deep into my heart all day. I've been completely lost and unable to think straight all day. I've been torturing myself all day over it. I've been overwhelmed with uncertainty and doubt all day. The videos that popped up were "12 Purposes for Pain, " "Stop Torturing Yourself, " and this one, "Never Trust Yourself." All were the exact things I needed to hear right now. Thank you and praise God! I won't have any chance to begin resolving the poor choices I made today until at least Monday so I really needed this to help me get through the weekend with peace in my heart.

As a Protestant who teaches Church History, I thoroughly enjoy listening to Father Josiah (along with Stephen de Young). I told my wife that there is a depth and richness of teaching presented by Father Josiah that many Protestant churches have missed out on; at least some of the ones I’ve attended. Thank you Father Josiah!

Please pray for me, for my family. We've been protestant followers for many years, and recently God has pressed Orthodoxy on my heart. I feel lost and confused in my walk lately.

Lord have mercy on us who put too much trust in ourselves, in our arrogance.

Help us, save us, have mercy on us. We can do nothing without the Lord.

Thank you for this admonition.

Its in human condition to trust in ourselves, in Man, and in Respect for persons/position.
The U.S. cultivates this. Its partly the Protestant foundation and the work ethic as a substitute for the sanctification labor ethic.
The Protestantism in the U.S. has gotten increasingly watered down, starting with the national establishment, then with the industrial revolution and the destruction of extended families, locsl communities, and the impact on the increase of heresies in the Protestant churches, including the acceptance of pagan Evolutionism and the New Paganism.
It will be a great day when America becomes a Catholic people, with liturgy and Sacraments, Divine Revelation in Scripture and Tradition (especially the Fathers) and a life of grace, charity and the Holy Ghost.
Praying for this.
We are so prone to fail and fall. God be praised for his help to us!
