Students upset after BCIT raises parking fees

Students at the British Columbia Institute of Technology say they’re upset after the school announced it would be nearly doubling the fees to park on campus. Some tell Sarah Chew they can’t afford the higher cost.

Parking is a privilege.

Considering that most students already get a full-service transit pass with their tuition, I don't see the issue. Parking lots are an expense thats not necessary when there are alternatives already provided to most students.

…this is the worst time to increase any parking rates especially for students as they have tight budgets to follow. Furthermore, parking is usually an easy cash grab for any organizations. SMH.

BCIT is all about profits now. The education value is horrible. When I went there in the late 80s, the teachers taught. I've taken some upgrade classes the last few years, and it seems like it's all about profits now instead of student education.

Crazy, another roadblock probably planned to try to reduce autos on roads.

It is expensive just to live in that area so...why wouldn't that be the same for education and all that goes with it.
