I met Govan a couple of weeks ago backstage at the Hans Zimmer Tour. He is such a nice, funny and natural person. After saying, that I watched all his videos, he just said "ouh, you are this person. I already wondered who watches all those. Thank you!"❤

I love technical death metal and I still think Guthrie is the best guitarist of my lifetime. This is what it is to master your craft in every way. No gimmick just raw ability. Execution, timing, feel, composition and soul. Before even talking about his musicality and ability to improvise things I couldn't even dream of. I'm just mad I didn't find him sooner.

I was pure a shred head for most of my guitar life. I started when I was 7 and basically followed the guitarist vision of a 7 year old until I was 20. But, in 3 years of learning Jazz and piano and stuff, the guitar is starting to hit different. I, over the years, acquired all the tools to do shit like this. But never actually put em together. It was the act of learning a whole other instrument, especially jazz piano that got me going “ooooh. You can play the key of a chord and not just rip scales, picking patterns, string skips and arpeggios in the key of a song forever.” And now I’m actually making guitar faces again. It’s like, I had the whole ass neck on autopilot. But but I’m starting to realize that the guitar is not just a skill toy. It’s an instrument. Also, it’s a cool trip to learn piano or any instrument from a musical perspective when you already have the technical and mechanical side of another instrument down. You go, “damn. If only I could play this thing better. I could really express mysel-….*guitar, in the corner staring at me with its beady little les Paul tone switch eye.* ah. I know what I must do.” lol
