Understanding Balance Sheets for Beginners | Accountant's Perspective

Today I am going to show you how to analyze a balance sheet from an accountant's perspective. It is important beginners in the stock have a basic understanding of balance sheets. The balance sheet is one of the three financial statements that companies publish. The balance sheet is a snap shot in time unlike an income statement or cash flow statement that provides numbers over a period of time.

Really good Justin. Great presentation, easy to follow, easy to understand. This one is going in the "Saved to watch again" list for me. Yes, would love to see the income statement and cash flow statement broken down as well. Keep up the great work!

Great video! And yes please to the income statement and cash flow statement. As soon as you showed how the first balance sheet had zero long term debt I instantly thought of Facebook. And I always thought that “Retain Earnings” was just earning the company keeps after paying everything it needs to pay to run the business. But not total income the company has made like you mentioned.

This is great and useful Justin! Please do another for income statement and cash flow on the same company, with the same date, so we can review them for reference. Thanks again
Can you also add the link to the reports of these companies so we can view them as well?

Can you do a video on TLRD, your analysis on it at the time and why you invested in it (possibly thinking it wouldn't go bankrupt) please? It would be of much use to learn from your experience on this. Thank you :)

Thanks Justin ! Great overview. Could you please explain retained earnings and how do they fit into the quarterly / yearly balance sheet? In other words, how do historical losses / revenue add up to offset equity + liabilities with assets within the current fiscal month or FY ? Keep up the great work !

You should do a 15min review of a 10k to go through step by step for what to look for.
