They need to acknowledge Complex Post Traumatic Stress Injury because the neurodivergence accompanying it hinders the processing of grief.

IMHO we need to get away from using the term "disorder" Anxiety, depression, bipolar, ADH, PTS etc. are self explanatory. Yes, everything is on a continuum and those that seek treatment are often at one end of the continuum, however, i think it also prevents people from seeking help because they wait until they think it is bad enough to be a "disorder." It also pathologizes, in some cases, differences in neurocircuitry and even typical reactions to atypical or traumatic events. What are your thoughts?

I wish they would stop equating grief with physical death only.

.... I'm sorry that your life gave you almost the same heaping pile of b.s. that mine did. I also was 28 when I lost my daddy to brain cancer. My mom hated me my entire life for no reason. Thanks for telling your story. You have no idea how nice it is to know that I'm not the only one without family that is still here in this life.... But at the same time .. I would never wish this shit on anyone. Ever. Wishes of healing to you, lone warrior.

People leave out the siblings. When siblings grow up sharing bedrooms, they are the most intertwined. You literally know everything about each other. Siblings let each other know things and talk about things that would never be known or talked about with grandparents and parents. Yet, continually siblings are rarely mentioned during grieving of a lost child.

Prolonged Grief is not just grief but what it opens, all the time that is left without the person, but also the loss of hope and passion for life! You know the best is behind you, and you cannot cope with the world that exists just for day that repeat themselves!

Doc Snipes! I watched this yesterday, very well done. Actually all of your videos are well done. I have mental illness and I started a vocation as a Peer Specialist not too long ago. I found you and have been watching your videos on topics pertaining to my job. I just want to thank you for all of your wisdom and research. Also, it would be cool to get your thoughts, or a video, on Peer Specialty. It's really a very cool field. People touch people everyday, you are one of them that touches people. Thanks so much for your education.

I have this over an abortion I had in 2008. This is messed up, but I feel more hurt and distressed about it now than about my Dad who died a year ago. And I LOVED my Dad. But for some reason, I cant get over it. I was forced into it, not ready and now I have no idea what to do about it. She would be 13 today. I think about the day she would have been born. I don't feel like it was my choice. I don't know how to heal. Its like it happened last week.

Thank you so much I have been researching trying to find out information on this. Your video is definitely one of the most explanatory. The fact that it also does not only happen with death is very helpful after years of suffering I have just been diagnosed with this Disorder and it has been getting worse, before I knew what I was suffering from along with PTSD.
I have tried so many therapies and meds. I’m hoping that since this is a new diagnosis more attention will be given to help heal this very debilitating condition and therapies that work.

I would love for you to do a series on this since there are so many layers. And include modules of therapies teaching people to heal would be a big help and other resources.

Thank you,
I have watched you for a long time very very informative videos

Thankyou Dear.. I just emailed this to my mental health provider...
A particularly hot area for me . Kind of goosebumps forming as I listen as it's all applicable.
I'm considered mdd, ptsd dysthymia in my diagnosis, yet the exclusion of term disorders echos my Drs rhetoric.
Oodles upon oodles of post trauma unresolved vs disorder..call it long term freaking aggravated of epic grand proportion lifes vicissitudes never ending ..for all I care...arthritic outbreaks, gout, panic, myriads of physical issues act up, oh yeah.. it has cost me 2 decent careers now years behind Thankyou again for this template Dr Snipes...

I was diagnosed with adjustment disorder with mixed depression and anxiety over dealing with the loss of my father to a terminal illness. However, I think this might be a more accurate diagnosis.

Thank you, Dr. Snipes! I think grief among those excluded groups could meet criteria for adjustment disorder with anxiety and/or depressed mood.

Not sure I understand the distinction. A woman that gave up a child for adoption and felt grief would not meet the criteria because the child is still alive. Or parents targeted by Parental Alienation. The rejected parent 20 years down the road rarely feels much better.
