(4-2x) is the same as -(2x-4). As far as the transformation goes, rearrange this as -2(x-2) so it is a translation of 2 units to the right followed by a stretch scale factor 1/2 parallel to the x-axis followed by a reflection in the y-axis.

Yes, it is the same as the range of f(x) since one the inverse function is a reflection of f(x) in the line y=x. This is explained in one of my tutorials on functions - range and domain.

OMG genius! I won't be able to do anything with it without your help! Thank you Sir!

Hey Mr exam solutions. What would the (4-2x) do to the graph? That's the same as (2x-4) isn't it? Would that move it to the right by 4 or 2?

I have the same thing on my past paper ln(4x-2) but if you try and use it, it wont work, so I guess these papers are wrong since the mark scheme is also showing ln(4+2x).

hi sir, can you please explain how the domain of f inverse is any real value of x?
thanks.

Hey Sir and youtube public, could we swap the x and y's around at the end? and if so, how would we represent this? could we say let x=y and y=x??

I think you are confused over range and domain. See my comment below.

if you graph ln(4x-2) and ln(4-2x) they are a different so edexcel made a mistake

You said the domain is any real value. its the same as the range of the original equation.

but if x<2 and y=ln4-2x there are no possible values for y? you cant plot f(x) as a result?
