I TALK TO THE WIND
(McDonald, Sinfield)

Said the straight man to the late man
Where have you been
I've been here and I've been there
And I've been in between.

I talk to the wind
My words are all carried away
I talk to the wind
The wind does not hear
The wind cannot hear.

I'm on the outside looking inside
What do I see
Much confusion, disillusion
All around me.

You don't possess me
Don't impress me
Just upset my mind
Can't instruct me or conduct me
Just use up my time.

I talk to the wind
My words are all carried away
I talk to the wind
The wind does not hear
The wind cannot hear.

Back in 1978, I caught my Mom listening to this on my headphones. She said she loved this. Miss her so much.

My mom died yesterday. I had to spend the next twelve hours at work. When I got in my car, this was the first thing I listened to. It made me feel a little bit better. Thank you, King Crimson.

"Where have you been?"
"I've been here and...I've been there and...I've been inbetween"
I used Peter Sinfield's lyrics to a teacher when i was late for school almost fifty years ago. Sadly, he didn't understand the philosophical content and I got one hours detention instead.

I dig Greg Lake's Lead Vocal on this classic.
Michael Giles' Drumming is simply perfect!
Ian MacDonald 's Flute solo is so ethereal and so beautiful!
I listened to this track today, February 20, 2024, on this rainy day in Highland Park, California.

The flute solo on this song is like a candle in the darkness of this age we're living in.

When all else abandons you, music is still your friend.

A part of my soul is stuck in between the chords of this song...

I recently showed this to a friend, and though she had no interest in Prog or much rock at the time, she absolutely loved it and asked for similar songs. This music still engages more people to this day, and it's fantastic to see it here on YouTube as part of that.

My older brother had the album, In the Court of the Crimson King. I used to "borrow' the album when he was not home and listen to this song over and over. I was obsessed with this song. Hearing it again takes me back many decades.

1973 in Queens my High School girlfriend turned me onto to this Album in her bedtoom and into that other dimension I went and had a true understanding of enjoying happiness.
