Well it's the same old story. They bought a land that wasn't being used, make something out of it then people are mad they have it and wants to take it away.

It is a private property. They are entitled to preserve their culture as long as they are not harming anyone.

How can apartheid exist in a town where all residents do their own dirty work? They do not use people of another ethnicity to do the jobs most people look down on, as is still the case in USA and elewhere in SA. This is a new kind of thinking that sets an example, and Orania is in fact ahead of the rest of the world.
The world (and Yahoo) just cannot see it, because it prefers to incriminate others while maintaining their own apartheid, also apartheid between rich and poor. While also seeking someone else to blame for their own problems. However, there really is nothing wrong with Orania.
Orania started from nothing, and they take responsibility and ownership of what they started. Other communities can learn from them, they are willing to share their knowledge. Use it or not, but they are doing a good thing.
(At least two of the images in the video did not come from Orania, but Yahoo added those for false sensation.)

what is wrong with that. The whites is a minority in S.A. I live in NZ where the Mauri have communities where whites aren't allowed. We don't complain.

Why do "they have a long way to go"? No Kim Kardashians in the neighborhood?

"the South Africa town where apartheid still exists"

That's incorrect. Apartheid still exists in every town and city in South Africa. The difference between 'blacks only' and 'whites only' is semantics.

the title is so misleading on so many levels. This is an ethnic minority that wants to live free and independent much like people in Tibet or the Amish. Why can't they just be left alone to do their own thing? You do not have a right to them, if they don't want to share their space it's THEIR choice.

I am black and I support Orania. What is wrong with it? They hold no institutional power, they are simply existing in their own communities. Black people in Africa can also develop their own communities and be content. Why is the very existence of a community a threat? At some point it is just jealousy. Here in America we had many black neighborhoods but the one famously burned down is black Wall Street. A community that excels while doing for themselves is one that threatens the need for government, which is the real reason governmental leaders want their destruction.

South Africa is not a nation. It is a country of many nations and tribes. The Afrikaaners are a nation and they should have the same right to self determination as the Zulus.

Personally, I don't see anything wrong with wanting to decide, for yourself, who you want to associate with, where you want to associate with and why you want to associate with without being bullied by popular militant liberalism. If this world we live in is all for liberal, peaceful integration and freedom of choice, why would the opposite of that ideology apply for a small group who choose to live culturally exclusive? There are many cultures who choose to live exclusively for their own reasons and they are left in peace. Why would this one town, that is productive, functioning, efficient, flourishing, clean, peaceful, wanting nothing from the outside, relatively free of the crime rampant in the rest of the country(which really should make the mainstream news and media) be of such interest that all focus is on Orania and not on the rest of the country... matters like corruption, fraud, ineptocracy etc, which should be of far more importance to the educated mind..? Seems like a "penny wise but pound foolish" focus and attention. Orania is not the problem, the Kakistocracy government, however, is.. All this rampant and defunct attention is akin to tens of feet stomping out a single lit match when the rest of the entire bushveld is on fire.. Silly!

Perhaps the positive example to be taken from Orania is this - Building, creating, succeeding, improving, flourishing, safely. May Orania be a beacon and example of what ANYONE, regardless of ethnicity, can aspire to achieve.. Building something from relatively nothing, successfully.. Progress! Instead of liberal bickering over nonsense. Grow up!!!

_they still have a long way to go_
I agree, why stop at Orania? They should do this to all of South Africa.
And while they are at it; turn Zimbabwe into Rhodesia again.

If the Cyan family is owning a house then they are under no circumstances obliged to let the Green family live with them.

Orania is privately owned.

Let them be. There are ethnic enclaves everywhere around the world: Chinatowns, Japantowns, French Canada, Fredericksburg in TX, etc. This is no different.

It’s called the right to self determination which the Jewish people, (my people), do currently in the state of Israel.
