Unfiltered I Why Should Orania Exist In A Non-Racial SA?

Section 235 of the South African Constitution acknowledges the right of cultural groups to self-determination. But what about the Afrikaner enclave of Orania which also uses race to determine who can be allowed to live in that community? Thirty-two years after its establishment, the Orania experiment continues to baffle South Africans and the world about why it is allowed to exist in stark contrast to the spirit of the Constitution which frowns against racism.

If a town of 3000 people, which you probably can't even find on a map, is giving you sleepless nights, you don't have any real problems or struggles. I can't imagine a more comfortable, luxurious, privileged life than one where one of your biggest worries is the fact that Orania exists.

I’m amazed that the culture of the majority of South Africans is one of feeling threatened by a meager 2500 people who get off their rear ends and do things for themselves and are successful at what they do . This poses the question of why, if they are so worried about what the Afrikaner is achieving for themselves, do they not remover their index finger out of their rear end and do something similar for their own communities .
I suspect it has to do with the culture of entitlement and it is easier to “hijack “ what somebody else has built. What is more obvious is the lack of ability to achieve anything for themselves.

Can people with nothing better to do just leave people of Orania alone. What is it thats stopping one from buying land and have people of the same culture and vision in that land. It's already happening anyway, the rich leave amongst themselves. One who is poor is not allowed in, they erect boom gates to stop people from entering or just passing through.

If the aim is a non-racial society, then BEE and AA must be removed as well, Black ownership laws should be removed, tenders should not only be for Black people. This is all hypocritical, the entire SA system is based on black empowerment, non-racial? I don't think so ANC. EFF non racial? Definitely not.

The comments have been overwhelmingly positive to this interview, I think that's it's an indication that South Africans have come to realize that the concept of a rainbow nation is not really the way to go. Tribes across South America were not forced into one big melting pot and exist today in small groups retaining their individual cultures, beliefs, and ways of life. This does not however make them racists. People should be allowed to choose with who they associate and how to live their lives. It does not mean that they cannot help other groups of people achieve the same as in the case of orania who are very much involved in other Community developments around them. ❤
