This series had the best, most poignant endings of any show in television. If you can watch the final moments without shedding a tear, you have no soul.

The final ten minutes of the final season of Blackadder...where the comedy slowly seeps away to be replaced by the horrific reality of war, is one of the most moving pieces of television ever recorded. It deserves to have a much wider audience than just us in the UK.

People rightly give Rowan Atkinson and Tony Robinson a lot of credit for their performances, but the way Hugh Laurie earnestly and enthusiastically delivers his lines as George is just so perfect. He plays the foppish English boy so so well.

As a brit, this guy is so endearing with his reactions to such old clips

These are classics, good to see an American who gets British comedy

I was in Berlin in 1989. Someone wrote on the east side of the Berlin wall "Dont panic Baldrick has a cunning plan".

"A bloke named Archie Duke shot an ostrich because he was hungry."
Comedy gold.

Believe it or not, we studied this episode in history at school. There's lots of historical accuracy sitting amongst the jokes. And that ending; absolutely heart wrenching!

I adore how Blackadder rewards you with multi layered jokes if you know a bit of history but is still funny for everybody else. Incredible writing and performances.

Rowan Atkinson will go down in history as one of the greatest British comedians ever. Mr Bean, Blackadder, Johnny English, Not The Nine O’clock News. Amazing comedian

I could sit here and watch this guy watch all four series of Blackadder. He has such a generous laugh.

Loved this series. The undercurrent of pathos to Baldrick's innocence and George's enthusiastic patriotism is just wonderful

The final ending when they go "Over the top" the smoke and flashes and that slow fade to the green fields of Flanders. Gets me every time especially knowing now I have two great uncles who never got to 21 buried in France.

The last scene of the final episode of Blackadder goes forth is amazing, it brought a tear to my eye.

I strongly recommend watching all of Blackadder. Each series is set in a different historical period. Every single episode is solid gold.

This was one of the cleverest UK comedy shows of all time, great to see an American who appreciates and understands British humour.

Like Dad's Army, it's part of our national psyche to laugh at ourselves.

In many countries, the idea of laughing at servicemen that risked and lost their lives in one the world's worst events is unthinkable. But, we fully embrace the farce in all things without taking away that meaning.

Our best comedies have a lot of depth. They make you full on belly laugh and then suddenly hit you with a sledgehammer of devastation. Just like the end of this series does. Comedy and tradgedy exist together. The worse the situation is, the more we need to find ways to find humour in it.

'Goes Forth' is perhaps one, if not the, finest, British comedy series ever! A history lesson, comment on British social/military class structure of the time, and very clever use of language all wrapped up in very, very, great to see/hear you enjoy it!

The beauty and subtlety of Blackadder is Richard Curtis and Ben Elton's writing allows the comedic timing of Atkinson, Laurie and Baldrick to shine.
