No cop should ever be allowed to plea down charges, they should be double what any citizen gets for the same offence. Shouldn’t be allowed to resign either as that means they get to keep their pensions. Pensions should be seized to pay reparations to victims. Only way to get cops to work within the law is to let them know that when they break the laws they will be punished far more severely than citizens. Make them learn the hard way that it is them that will pay for their mistakes.

We see too often where an officer commits clear crimes, then is protected from the consequences of their options by
1-Other cops simply ignoring their crimes
2-Superior officers ignoring their crimes
3-prosecutors ignoring their crimes
4-prosecutors, when forced by overwhelming evidence, and an abundance of public outrage, undercharge said criminal cops, then plea them down to the lowest charge/ sentences that they believe that they can get away with
5-judges allow all of this to go on without the courage to do anything about it
Like this cop that they plead from a possible 15 year prison sentence to 75
That is an outrage.

Where I live, a lot of times the judge will act as the defense attorney. It's nice to see a fare and honest judge.
