MORE EFFORT = MORE RETENTION

Quizzing (Active recall)
- testing yourself
- use flashcards to quiz yourself

Spacing (Spaced repetition)
- spread out your studying over time
- space out your study time
- review again before you forget it to improve your forgetting curve

Mixing (Interleaving)
- understand the connection of different ideas
- switch different subjects
- 50mins on, 10mins off

Studying smarter is so high-key. I've found that with something as content-heavy as medicine if I weren't studying smart all these years would have felt near enough impossible and definitely would not have freed up time for other projects! Thanks for sharing Mike, this is gonna be useful to a lot of people! 😎

This is the best video on studying and learning I have ever seen. I am having my son get a remnote account and I am buying him those two books. I was fascinated throughout the entire 13 minutes. Thank you Mike and Matty.

This is exactly how I studied for biology and other subjects. I made a little question catalog with what I assumed would come to the test and just filled out stuff I already knew. And the stuff I didn't know, I would just look for the answer in my notes and write it, because afterwards I would question myself again anyways by covering the answers with a piece of paper. This way I memorize some stuff before I even beginn studying

I can't believe you don't have more subscribers -- this channel is fantastic. I love your studying tips, but I love even more that you share your thoughts about not getting caught up in perfectionist culture, reflecting on what really matters, having a happy life now and not just when you reach some educational goal. Keep up the excellent work. I'm going to share your channel with my kids (two in HS & two in college) and others. Also, RemNote has such great potential, and I can't wait to see how it develops over time. My kids and I are putting all of their encyclopedic "Marvel" knowledge into RemNote for a fun way to learn its many features.

The first tip is definitely a great supplement to scott young’s ultralearning “retention” and “retrieval” principles.
