Russia has been hit be a perfect storm, that may affect the outcome of the war. Crumbling infrastructure combined with a cold winter. Strikes on strategic military energy infrastructure by Ukraine, and growing war fatigue among the domestic population. The move to a war economy, rampant inflation, and a growing deficit of some staple goods.

Konstantin is a lovely human being. I feel his pain at seeing his homeland descend into an abyss.

I am from Germany. Yes, German enginering companies made a fortune in Russia. Think this was one reason why the government hesitated so long sending weapons to Ukraine at the start of the war. The other reason was cheap natural gas, and about 60% of all german households depend on natural gas. My bill is now 200€ per month.

So we take a high price for supporting Ukraine. But I would rather freeze to death that seeing Putin win this war.

The real Russian keeping it real!! Always good to watch him explain what’s really going on in Russia. Thank you @Inside Russia 🇬🇧

Such an irony that both Napoleon and Hitler hit their blockheads against Russian winter and now Putin does it too.

What is kind of upsetting to me, is that the land that belongs to Russia has so much potential. There could be a massive tourist industry in Russia. But people are afraid to go there. The land could be farmed. Investments could be made in their infrastructure and their people. They could have freedom. They are shooting themselves in the foot over and over again.

Excellent guest as always, it's good to be reminded that not every Russian is a mindless Orc and that all hope isn't lost that one day men like Konstantin will be the future.

This and Inside Russia, both great channels.

I think the only way to stop this war is within Russia the people need to rise up and demand an end into this mindless war. Thank you both for all your hard work and effort, getting the truth out is so important. More people need to hear your message.👍🏻

Btw, Finland also has central heating in for example Helsinki, and it's extremely reliable, cheap and effective. I've had it in every apartment I've had. Here it's a great system that Just Works without people ever needing to think about it.

Russia has problems with central heating because it's Russia, not because it's central heating.

It's absolutely amazing how much shit from the government that former Soviets will take before they freak out and take to the streets. I observed this as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Kazakhstan from 1997-1999. The pain and lack of comfort and lack of everything - these people have an ability to suffer that we jokingly refer to as resilience in the U.S. What these people go through is BEYOND resilience. It's practically SAINTLY.

District heating in itself is not a problem. In fact, when used as part of combined heat and power generation (CHP), it is very efficient and widely used throughout continental Europe. Of course, the infrastructure needs to be properly designed and maintained, and this is not the case in Russia for many things, not just district heating.

Otherwise, I like your guest. He has proven time and time again to be overly optimistic, but optimism is in great demand in these gloomy days.
