We have a lot in common. My mom treasured her Scottish heritage, her mother being from Edinburg. I have some paintings by her and also photos from the day. I only wish I’d quizzed Mom more before she passed. However, she was someone who’s feet were planted firmly in the present.

What a lovely book. We are currently renovating, relocating the kitchen in a 1940’s beach cottage and adding a library. Your channel has been such an inspiration. The miniature of your great grandfather can be digitized and enlarged. It can also be colorized and made to look like a painting. Our family did that with my mother and father's wallet sized pictures. They were done as large 2 feet by 2 1/2 feet portraits. They turned out very well and we were all very pleased with them.
The print of the Scottish nobleman is spectacular. It's cool to be Scottish.

Lovely family story, thank you for sharing. BTW - If you haven’t already discovered “Command Hooks”, you may want to give them a try! I used to get in trouble every time I’d buy something new to hang on the wall because my husband hated me putting nail holes everywhere that he had to patch and repaint, so one day while hanging out in the hardware store, I found the 3M product, Command Hooks. They work great but unfortunately not for stuff that’s heavier than about 4 pounds….. I found that out the hard way! Some say they can hold heavier items but they can’t, I’ve tried it, it’s not worth the risk, trust me….. I’ve lost several precious things as a result of a heavier piece falling (which was heartbreaking), so now I stick to the 4-4.5 pound rule regardless if the pkg. says 20 lbs or not. I’ve also learned to combine the hooks with tack putty (specifically, Uhu patafix). The combination of putty on the corners and the Command Hook, holds the item firm even in high traffic areas and neither product will damage painted walls and are completely removable (and the putty is even reusable). The putty is an absolute life saver for all of my ceramics. I use it on every surface (wood, metal, glass) to hold my display items securely so if a table gets bumped by the grandkids, I have no fear that things will come crashing down. Hope you find this tip useful.

Hi Mary, As a person who loves color I so enjoyed this book. Actually, I love all of your book reviews and they make me want to decorate again and again and again!!
