I'm really hoping that Andor goes more into this topic. Legends touched on it very early on after the Original Trilogy ended. And it is the reason the New Republic was always so weak. Half their powers didn't want a Republic, especially the smugglers, pirates, and criminals the Rebellion relied upon so heavily. They expanded this during the Clone Wars era Legends content with the former CIS planets rejecting the New Republic.

The galactic civil war started unofficially in 4BBY, and officially in 2BBY, the war would not outbreak until the battle of scarif.

Then the battle of yavin would mark the beginning of the end of the galactic empire.

As for the early rebel units, many fans will remember when the kaminoans started a clone rebellion (in legends) with their anti-clone troopers, despite their efforts they were defeated by the 501st, under the command of boba fett.

I really like to see a Republic and Separatist cell work together. Seeing them discuss their issues between each other while trying to work together against the Empire. Separatists complain about how if it wasn’t for the Republic, none of this would have happened in the first place. The Republic cells complain about Separatist war crimes and how technically they never solved the problem as the megacorporations ran and controlled the military. Separatists complain that the corporations wouldn’t even have been so powerful if the Republic hadn’t ignored the Outer Rim members of the Republic, leaving them exposed to pirates and criminals. The Republic cells complain about how Grievous and the generals and admirals chosen by Dooku and the Separatist Council were just as brutal as the current Imperial officers. And back and forth and back and forth. It ironically almost seems like the Republic conducted itself better morally in wartime than it did in peacetime. For the Separatists, it might have been the opposite. Who knows?

Nightswan in the Thrawn book tried his hand at Rebellion and failed horribly.
Admittedly he was going up against Thrawn, one of the most competent Imperials ever.

Naboo is in a strangely unique position. On the one had, their former Senator is now the Chancellor and then Emporer. Making the planet important to Palpatine. On the other their Former Queen and then Senator was against the idea of the Empire. What we don't know is what the average person from Naboo felt. What's more interesting is the Empire's harsh treatment of aliens and the fact that the Gungan also live on Naboo.

9 fought, 9 lost, 9 inspired, and 9 wins in the end of things.

One of my favourite fun facts about the current canon is that the 'free Ryloth movement' where the first faction ever to take down an imperial star destroyer. I understand it to some extend that some minor details from the books or comics are changed to better fit on screen storytelling. But i do hope that, that is one detail they stick with.

It definitely started galaxy wide. When the Emperor announced the formation of the Empire. For some planets/cultures. It could have started at the end of the war. When the Empire wouldn't leave or when they tried to wipe them out.

I my opinion, the Galactic Civil War officially began in 2 BBY with some early major Alliance victories over Kamino and Fresia. Fresia in particular is where the Rebel Alliance got their hands on the newly created X-Wing and the blueprints for making more of them.

If we’re going to talk about early resistance movements, I would like to add the Seperatist holdouts as an honorable mention. They continued to fight the Empire even after the death of the Separatist Council, but were eventually destroyed by 9 BBY.

I hope that the Separatist Holdouts appear in Andor since Cassian's family were separatists. Give them some love

Just wanna say thank you Allen, I know you’ve been making these videos for years now and it is greatly appreciated by fans like me who just enjoy delving deeper into the lore of Star Wars.

For the individual the war began the minute they decided to actively fight the Empire. For history’s sake one might say the war began with Mon Mothma’s declaration. Not unlike how the Revolution was a shooting fight for over a year before the Declaration of Independence. Yet in terms of formality the war really began in earnest 04JUL76

Weird I Never Thought Anyone But The Rebels Fighting Against The Empire

You missed the most badass one bro. The Kaleesh (a reptilian species, and what Grievous used to be) actually fought the empire for 10 years. They were monsters bruh. Despite having inferior weapons and inferior numbers, they fucked up the empire. Even thrawn couldn't think of a strategy against them, and decided to just blow up the surface. After 10 years they finally gave up.

I loved the quotes at the beginning of each section. I haven't heard some of them before. Where did you get them? books? shows? comics? Also, who said them?

It's interesting to try and think about how you would do this. Who would you ally with, where would you hide, how would you get supplies and equipment, how do you recruit more people, maintain ships, and so on. Seems like at least some of the surviving Separatists would have a lot of experience improvising this sort of thing. Really hoping that the Bad Batch, or whatever rebels they might show, are forced to work with former separatists. Could be cool to see how they try and get over their old hostility.

All the Republic forces technically had left Mandalore after Maul was captured 🤷‍♂️

Too bad that deal wasn't made with the Imperials

I hope to see more of the clone rebellion Rex is forming. Of course given the footage in the Bad Batch Seasom 2 trailer, this Rebel cell will have many non-clones in it and might even form ties with the Partisans and Ryloth Rebels early. It would be interesting and kind of ironic though if it was this clone trooper Rebel cell that struck the first real blow to the Empire. Not just destroying some factory or mining complex on a planet, or even helping rebels escape like what the Mon Calamari fleet had to do in 18 BBY when the Empire took over their planet. I’m meaning like something that has repercussions that go all the way to the Original Trilogy. Perhaps they cripple Palpatine’s cloning operation, leading it to be moved to Exegol. Or perhaps they inspire planets across the galaxy to form small rebel cells. Nothing united like the Rebel Alliance, but a prelude to it. Or maybe they even eliminate a key Imperial. For all we know, Rampart has plans to ensure the Stormtrooper program takes care of the flaws we see later on. Perhaps the clone rebellion becomes the major reason why instead of just leaving clone troopers in the Imperial Military, Palpatine kicks most of them out onto the streets and in cruddy retirement homes. Granted, that would be a negative consequence of the Clone Rebels, but it would eliminate the most efficient soldiers in the Imperial Military.

I’ve always admired the battle scene in Solo, since it showed a full scale battle going on, like Battlefront but cranked to 10! It was EPIC!
