This takes me back. I was working at Apple when this model premiered and was one of the lucky few call center reps that was given one to WORK ON. This and the followup FW800 model were beauties.

That is 100% the dust of a house with a smoker in.

A few years ago I stumbled across an exact duplicate of this machine in a pawn shop with a graphics card that wasn't working. I took it home and upgraded the card to get the machine running and imagine my surprise to find that it had an OWC processor upgrade to 1.2 ghz.

Wow, I remember setting this exact setup in my Graphic Design Art class in High School. It was amazing back in its time.

I was almost in tears when I first got my MDD dual 1.25 G4, as I wrapped my arms around it. It was my first "Pro" Mac and what a beast it was. It smoked my 2008 MBP Core 2 Duo that I got to replace it. These old G4 towers were beautiful in design, power and expandability.

The best design out of all of the powermac g4 designs, there were 3 different designs of the g4 towers

can't believe the G4 is twenty years old! I remember when these machines were practically supercomputers!

I used to have this exact model back in like 2009. I really enjoyed playing with OS X Leopard, and it taught me a lot about PPC Macs. I'm now motivated to buy another one.

I would take that design over today's any time. Hope that style will come back some time.

I adore this era of Apple. That translucent plastic still looks 👌

I have a soft spot for classic apple computers like this, I have fond memories of using g3s as school computers in the early 2000s.

I’m assuming the wire on the mobo is a jumper wire. Probably a broken trace on the board?

Love these quicksilvers, always wanted one. especially considering I was in the audience that Macworld, and had just gotten my 400mhz G4 tower 8 months prior, I was furious I could of gotten that 733mhz chip if just waited!! and still am actually. I was 14 years old

Great mac; my favorite was the mirrored door G4. I had 3 of them, and had a small render farm for my 3D work back in the day. Back when Apple would truly innovate and change the world with their designs and builds. I miss the old Apple Computer to be honest, and the whole community around mods, support, expansion cards, CPU upgrades and more.

I'm still using my 2001 QuickSilver Mac. Upgraded to a Dual 1.8Ghz G4 CPU board, FW-800 & USB2 PCI Cards, and an Nvidia Graphics upgrade. It works great as a video converter using a canopus ADVC-110 box over FW-400. Still trying to figure out a PCI card for moving to SATA Disks.

Classic apple. Now days WE GOT PURPLE and thats about it. I kinda wish electronics still would have options for transparent plastic. It's so timeless.

For 20 years old machine, this looks so beautiful. Still look way cooler compared to today's Windows deskstops.

I actually own one of those and I have upgraded it to its limits basically, I use it to run leopard and work on backporting hackintosh drivers to power pc macs, so far I have been able to get several sound cards working under leopard in this way
