Today we’re going to be restoring Apple’s cheapest iMac from 13 years ago. I originally got this in a large lot of old tech, cleaned it up and gave it to my partner a few years ago. Now, it’s time to restore it once more and sell it off for charity :) #apple #imac #restoration

Thanks for watching! Note: When I say this was the "cheapest iMac" Apple sold I'm not counting the slightly lower spec variant only sold to the educational market. If you wanted to buy a new iMac straight from Apple's website back in 2009, this was your cheapest option :)

You know it's Australian when Spider uses Macs for their web development

Two things that never get old
1)Eucalyptus oil

I do remember this video haha, lovely blast of the past. I had a 2008 model which included a 3.06GHZ Core 2 Duo, Nvidia 512MB GPU and I believe 4GB of ram :)

I still use this exact Mac with Monterey using OpenCore Patcher. The GPU is supported and it works fine with 8GB RAM and SSD

I bought a 2008 24 inch iMac, for 50 dollars in a goodwill store while thrifting. I put in a ssd, maxed out the ram and used the dosdude patcher to run modern os. It is still a good PC for most situations.

I just scored the same for 25€, including the original packaging. It's now sitting on my repairwork desk, and works like a charm :) 4GB RAM and an SSD sure make it usable again.

The spider completes web development on this iMac way better than me.

Top 1 reasons why Psivewri is one of the best youtube channels:

He doesn't kill spiders, relocates them properly

These macs are pretty cool. I recently bought one in brand new condition, the last owner said he bought a computer in 2007 and used only once so it came with original box (the serial number matched), never used original: keyboard, mouse, cleaning cloth, remote, manuals books and cd instalation disc. He even gave me wireless magic keyboard 1 and wireless mouse with box and in perfect condition. Maybe someone can think that i overpaid for it paying 250usd but i live in contry that is pretty imposible to buy fully functional computer for less then 250usd.

My som grabbed me a 2008 model from his job at a recycling center a few weeks back, and i loved upgrading it. I want to do more on it, but i didn't go far enough to redo paste yet

ANOTHER great episode. There's very little more satisfying on YouTube than these cool productions.

I love these old iMacs, the fact that you can still use boot camp and have a dual operating system makes them very usable in 2022.

In the States, that spider is known as a house spider or cellar spider, and "Daddy Long Legs" is reserved for the spider that's also called the "Harvestman". The cellar spider is very GOOD for your home, and the daddy long legs is completely harmless!

I use two of these early 2009 machines as my main desktops. They are still great and there is still a lot you can do with them. Mine are 24" models, which I prefer.
