For M.S. Patients, Ease Into HBOT Slowly

Because M.S. is a disease of oxidized fat or oxidized myelin, and because hyperbaric oxygen therapy does have the tendency to increase oxidation, we want to take it slowly and stimulate oxidation in a safe way.

When you do it this way, you can slowly increase the body's ability to handle oxidation.

It's a hormetic effect.

It'll start to stimulate superoxide dismutase, glutathione, and catalase, the chemicals inside our body that protect us from oxidation.

So as we expose the patient slowly to hyperbaric oxygen therapy over time, we know that increasing their capacity to tolerate oxidation through HBOT actually helps them to handle the oxidation in their exterior environment as well.

So start really gently and build it up over time as they show they're handling the therapy well.
