The drill is on the lowest setting and he's not pushing. He is pounding the hammer as if it was a feather. He is using the grinder correctly, though. He just needs to leave longer so it can go through.

Oh my god, you shouldn’t use these. First, the leaf hole needs to have the leaf on the inside of the pipe, then fill in the hole so it won’t cause hydraulic shock, as well as a decreased flow.

With the carrot hole, you need to use a non-degradable plug and fill the hole like the one above, same reason.
