In a recent interview, Denis said that at age thirteen he storyboarded his own Dune adaptation with a close friend. He’s been dreaming about this his whole life.

I'm super facinated by the fact that there are absolutely no computers in this universe. They're typically such a huge part of sci-fi

Dune is a monster to read. It took me a week to get through the first couple chapters cause I’d read one and immediately need a break to fully absorb what I read, this coming from a guy who speed read the LOTR series. Seriously Herbert unapologetically throws you into the world and launches various concepts at you at a ridiculous pace

Denis Villeneuve.
A man who in the span of 5 years (2013-2017) released Prisoners, Enemy, Sicario, Arrival, and BR:2049.
The man is equal parts quality and quantity. If anyone can do it, it's him!

Without Dune, you wouldn't have Star Wars and Warhammer 40K. Mucho respect.

I truly believe in order to get a great and true interpretation of Dune you need to do it in a Netflix type format which would allow 8-10 episodes per season to include all of the complex details and character developments. A novel like Dune is simply too content filled to try and squeeze in a 2 1/2hr film.

Dune seems like what would happen if you give Macbeth's characters space ships.

thank you for simplifying this without spoilers, I'm 29 and have never read the books but my dad was a teenager when they came out and is obsessed with them. Now that the movie is coming out, I'm going to watch it with him and our friends so I really want to start listening to dune's audiobook because I don't know how to read SiFi, I know it's a different process than other reads so I feel like listening to the story would help. It sounds fascinating and you made the story very clear so thank you again, I'm ready to get into it.

I've read all the books apart from Winds of Dune
The saga is one of the best and honest interpretations of humanity's potential and the risks involved with our evolution

Denis Villeneuve is one the best directors currently working.
Anyone who knows for him blade runner 2049 or Arrival should seriously check out Sicario, Prisoners and Incendies. All masterful films
