As previously mentioned, recording is illegal in many jurisdictions, but some teachers might have online versions of lectures for the course that they can point you towards.

Since the amount of material teachers are required to cover in a semester is unchangable, slowing down during one class will require the teacher to go extra fast later (to cover the material missed previously).
However, previewing the material is a fantastic strategy, since that will allow you to understand what the teacher is explaining better so you can 1) condense the teacher words into a shorter re-phrase and 2) focus only on the information that's new to you.

Asking questions is also super valuable, since it turns a generic lecture into a tutorinal customized to your needs.


If there are parts of the lesson you still don't understand, mark so you'll remember to ask about them after class. Ask your teacher about them during office hours, research them on your own, or ask a tutor.

I had a teacher just like this, it is so hard to focus when you're way behind, and even if you try to copy, record them with audio, or just told them to slow down, they will still just goes on and on that you are starting to lose motivation and stop listening.

Also, our entire class did have the same issue with it with the same teacher. I hope my teacher will change this behavior.


Plot Twist: She also forgots our class' preliminary exam. We are exactly way behind to our lessons, and she rarely appears even in our schedule time.

Kinda funny, but the same time as frustrating because we all don't want to fail 😂
