My favorites are "This Old House" and "America's Test Kitchen" channels. My wife has "Pluto" channel on all the time and I watch it too.

Frankly, I'm a retired older woman and a tightwad by choice especially when it comes to "entertainment." I would never even have bought myself a Roku in the first place (the cheapest one available at the time) if I thought I'd have to pay for anything on it, lol. I don't need Netflix, Hulu, etc. I don't need brand new programs when there's such an incredible amount of free viewing I've never seen and is therefore "new" to me. My Roku device was shipped free, was very simple and it practically hooked itself up with the simple directions provided. I was very glad to get you tube on the Roku, since that in itself is far more entertaining than regular TV and has some really good channels if you're into DIYs and information you can actually use. The search mode on Roku is great - for instance, if there's an actor you like, put his or her name in and voila, almost everything they've ever done is on there and much of it free. I like British programming, detective stuff, suspense, etc., and so much of that can be had for free; I'm not paying for Acorn. I've got access to my local public libraries (hoopla and kanopy). I've not paid for cable TV for years, don't miss it and have no problem using dollar store rabbit ears, which work great on both my TVs. On regular TV, I do watch some local PBS programming, but I'd never donate a dime to that outfit because of their overwhelming progressive agenda; I laugh when they urge their viewers to leave them something in their will, lol. I'm guessing sports fans might have to pay for what they want with Roku, not sure. For me, Roku has been money well spent.

This was just recommended to me by YouTube. Some interesting things and one factual incorrect item. You can still add unofficial channels with a code that I watch all the time. One of the reasons I started with Roku many years ago was the ability to add unofficial channels with ease.

I would like to mention that you can mirror your phone screen to your Roku device. I find it useful for streaming your favorite content by using a VPN on your phone since you can't install a VPN on your Roku device. One downside of screen mirroring is that it eats up your phone's battery.

When you go to "Streaming Channels" How did you get the menu on the left side of the screen? All I get is a screen full of icons and no matter which direction I try to go I don't get this menu. thanks

Good video. I'm going to have to get into that chess channel. Also, VUit is good for local news live stream. I just did a factory reset on my 3930RW. I'm stuck on version 10.5. Am I going to give Roku retailers $40 or more for v11? I guess it's going to collect dust. Fire Stick's offerings, on just about every level, clearly say Roku is good with navigation and a starter system. Unfortunately it's not going to take you where eventually you'll want to go.

Craig, what do you use to capture roku or any other streaming device. Ive tried several such as AverMedia 2 Plus which is currently on my desk and I almost always get a DMCA error or block that I cant seem to get past. I hope you can share with my your secret to help me out. Hit me up on most social media if you prefer a more private convo. Thanks for everything you do!

do you know by any chance if older Roku streaming devices and TV's are going to get the 11 update? I've only got it on 3 of my Roku platforms. 2017 2018 TV's and my Roku premiere streaming devices haven't got the 11 update. I have been checking every day but nothing yet. Maybe Roku isn't going back that far?

Be aware that almost every free news channel is either a Fox affiliate or something even further right. Unbiased or liberal sources either require a subscription (for US based channels) or are geolocked (for sources from outside the US).
