You go to Venice expecting to be amazed by the canals and bridges. And you are. But then you get lost in the alley ways and you think for sure you've travelled centuries in time. The place is just mesmerizing.

the first time I was in Venice it was off tourist season and besides the main attractions, the city was mostly empty. it was absolutely magical to walk at night through those empty narrow streets. at some point we reached a dead end and had to go back and so as we were leaving that corner we saw a girl in a beautiful long black dress just walk past us and after a few seconds disappearing into that dead end side alley. I was absolutely mesmerised.

I have been to Venice several times while Dad was stationed with NATO years ago. But my favorite was Feb 2020. I went for the first time by myself. Got an airbnb, took a food tour, made friends on the tour, enjoyed Carnavale. But...Covid hit. Everyone scrambled out of the city. Though the reason for everyone's sudden departures was terrible, I stayed a few extra days. It was the most serene, magical and divine time I has ever spent there. The streets were quiet, the canals were quiet and you only heard Italian spoken. Only locals in that spectacular city. The most magical moments where it seemed that there were presences from the past around every corner. Looking forward to going back.

I have worked there for many years in Venice, and a beautiful city a magical city especially in winter when the fog falls over the city, it seems to be back in the year 1800 .. and it seems that suddenly some historical figure appears ... Which nation in the world has such beauty? or such fabulous architecture ... I have traveled around the world, I have lived in North America in Canada, but Italy is Italy ... Venice must be experienced .. in this video the island of Murano where they make glass sculptures is missing, the island of Burano and the island of Lido di Venice ... there is much more to see ..

Such a sensitive and well-curated list that embodies, beyond the popular and commercial stereotypes, the essential and timeless qualities that make Venezia unique and precious, a slowly fading but still beautiful dream of the splendor wrought by the generations that have gone before us. Thank you!

We spent 10 magical days in Venice in February 2019 and deliberately went off the beaten track. First day we just left our hotel as soon as we had breakfast and just walked till it was dark.We found fantastic restaurants and eateries out of the way and went to quite a few of the places you suggested. Can't wait to return.

Very very fine video. Lots of interesting things. I happen to like Castello and even when there is almost no room to walk in San Marco there are tourists there. Plus the beautiful church supposedly by Palladio. Venezia without doubt the most beautiful city on this planet. And no cars, almost no bikes and the perfect separation of pedestrian and transport. In my view this is what makes Venezia so wonderful. Other cities have intact ancient buildings (Siena, Vicenza, etc etc) but water in the streets and the serenity of all pedestrian makes it the jewel of our solar system.

I spent several days in Venice about 20 years ago, and it was magical! I spent one morning just wandering the little walkways between houses, seeing the rooftop gardens spilling over the sides of the houses, and soaking in the scenery. One of the highlights of my life! Great video, too.
