Hello from Richmond Hill, Canada...just bought a Jetta S with 6 speed manual last week. The VW Jetta S with manual transmission is one of the last affordable manual transmission cars available. Highly recommend it to any car enthusiast looking for a new car to get one before they stop making them....Thanks for your informative videos...Happy motoring.

One of the few automakers still making an affordable car and a manual!! Definitely go with the manual!

I am shopping for a new car being an Mazda enthusiast for a period of time. It seems like the Jetta is about 2000 less than the new Mazda 3 so far. I just find that I like the design of the car and I like the storage capacity is designed differently- a big selling point. It just isnt really about the price now, I just want to get a car that feels more comfortable to drive in and out of the city (I travel from outside Toronto into the city each day to work) and the Jetta just seems more comfortable on the back for whatever reason. Just thought I would share this and see if anyone compared the Jetta to other cars they owned.

Nice review! Cool thing about that automatic is that it's the same Aisin 8 speed automatic found in the Camry and RAV4! So you know it's reliable!

Like you, I am one of he those geeks who would compare the auto to the stick version. The deal breaker for me is I do a lot of urban driving and the stick would feel like a penalty. Great review.

I sold my Golf wagon a couple years ago and I’ve missed it ever since. The 1.5t seems very good for a mix of economy and fun.

Even though i have fond memories training on manual transmissions, Automatic is the future and easier to find repairs for.

I hate low profile tires... It just makes your wheels bling, instead of adding comfort to your ride.

Apart from the renewed entertainment system, I can see that not much has changed with the VW Jetta …still a solid car though. One of my best cars that I’ve owned - very reliable and comfortable to drive especially on the motorway

i think the 8 speed auto is fun to i got one and if you put in the Manual mode on the auto is quick at shifting to

Less than a one percent difference in RPM indicated between the auto and manual at 70mph, but about a five percent difference in favor of the manual on highway fuel economy. Wondering how that works. Looks like a very good powertrain for the price, sub 2, 000rpm 70 and the high-ish torque make for some quiet driving.

i'd only drive manual transmission and wish i could always get manual seats, manual windows, manual locks, manual steering as these all give more power to the car and reduce expensive repairs from things breaking.

Might get one. My 2014 Passat SE w/ roof 1.8 EA888 gen III bought new with 6 sp. Tiptronic trans has 155, 293 miles trouble free, but serviced religiously

I'd go manual. I've always liked the feeling of rolling my own gears while driving. Just I'd rather have the GLI Jetta over the sport.

I watched reviews that test the MPG and they all beat the EPA highway estimate - some by quite a lot (well into the 40s). Hybrid territory!
