Chapter 4 Hid NEW CLUES to Dog Day! | Poppy Playtime Theory

Poppy Playtime chapter 4 added a ton of new information, clues and mysteries to the series. But one thing I did NOT expect, was for chapter 4 to seemingly confirm one of my old theories!

Not only do I think chapter 4 confirms who Dog Day was, but it might also add a heart-breaking twist to his story.

As fun as this theory is, Dogday was likely just an older kid like Matthew. He was supposed to be the leader of the Smiling Critters, so making him the oldest would more or less make him feel obligated to guide the others in any way he could. And if that meant going against the Prototype and being labeled a heretic to keep his friends safe, then so be it.

Evan after beating all 4 chapters, I still don't know HOW a game that basically starts off with being inside an abandoned toy factory and running away from a tall blue monster with a mouth full of razor sharp teeth has developed into so much more, so much mystery, so much lore, connections to the real world and further chapters.

Sadly, the Dr Bruno White theory falls apart after Harley confirmed his death in The Hour of Joy. (Plus, he couldn’t lie to himself, because he didn’t think that the questions on his mind where other people talking to him)

I feel that theres some symbolism to Kissy and Huggy's hand loss. In a lot of mythos we use the right hand to create and the left hand to destroy. Huggy has lost his left hand, whilst kissy has lost her right; whilst I dont think its basis for a full on theory, I think its pretty neat. In trying to create a better future kissy has 'sacrificed' her ability to create, in huggys pursuit of destruction he has destroyed a part of himself integral to that destruction.

DogDay is my favorite character in the Poppy Playtime franchise, so it just makes it that LITTLE bit more sad.

Couple of things to add. In chapter 3 the first time we hear about doctor white it's in the tape "Samuel Lee's last *day*" and in the arg Dr. Whites password is "onebad*day*". While the vhs can also be used as evidence that dogday is Samuel Lee that also has 2 day connections with dogday and white.

Now counter point, during a chapter 3 vhs tape between Leith Pierre and Catnap they are doing the 4th year check-in and given the phrasing of "Normally, I'd have Dr. Sawyer do this but he's uhhh... out, let's say." Its very clearly implied that Dr Sawyer has been turned into his brain in a jar at this point recently. Later into the tape Leith says Catnap isnt adjusting like the other critter and specifically names "Dogday" as one of them. So in the timeline this means Dogday can't be Dr. White as he was just with Dr. Sawyer when he woke up.

12:15 I totally agree! I really do agree that the prototype was giving Theo (catnap) mercy. I get so sad when others see it as evil, but then again. This is just a game, and everyone with look at facts/evidence and see them differently based on personal experiences/beliefs.

This is very interesting. If some staff were turned into big bodies, that would explain Sawyer's saying to us that all those years he saw a human. Because he, same as Mommy, recognizes us as staff

Hoppy being alive was a shock to me but when you think about it we didn't see his body nor did we see him get dragged away by the prototype. I guess the double tap rule still applies to even horror games.

6:46 they did the same to kissy in ch3 when she pounces on us when we come out of home sweet home, they added a blue hue to her fur, making us think she was huggy

Even if it’s not canon, I LOVE the theory that the player could’ve been Dr Whites spouse! I already thought PW stood for P White, and that the player was Dr. White, but that went out the window when Whites name was revealed to be Bruno.
Regardless, it makes a lot of sense even if Dr. White isn’t Dogday, and it makes it all very tragic. It even makes the fact that Dogday called the player an angel even more heart tugging.

There’s been a few things I’ve noticed that I don’t really see that other people caught on to or not really mentioned that could change a few things.

One is that from the beginning, all it took for our character to come back to the factory was the letter telling us that the Staff were still alive, not anyone or anything else. Just knowing that the staff were alive was enough to bring us back and go through the factory. So either our caring or hatred brought us back.

In chapter 3, when the radio is playing the old broadcasts and it mentions the desecrated body, it says “the late elliot ludwigs home”, meaning he had already passed away for some time before a fresh body was found in the home. Meaning we heard a broadcast on the radio relatively recently to recall the details that pretty much tell us that ‘something’ new got made outside of the depths of playtime co. before we were brought back in chapter 1.

In this most recent chapter, Harley mentions the letter that brought us back… meaning he had to know it not only got sent out, but sent to us. With the other clues and reveals we get, it’s made clear that we and Poppy have been getting manipulated from before the beginning of the game by ‘Ollie’, so it makes it seem like that the letter was sent to us in order to lure us back, to tie up loose ends, but also knowing that we could not only make it as far as we have, but also using us to remove bigger bodies and obstacles that could cause problems for the Prototype and effectively using us to remove any toys intelligent enough to expose the reality to the outside world.

We’re also constantly identified as a human and former employee, so much so that even random Smiling Critters from Safe Haven recognize us as a former employee, but Harley is the only one that mentions that we also have something ‘more’ about us that he’s curious about and hence why he toys with us the whole time instead of killing us.
